One of these will be my next cameras moving from the Canon XH-A1. I wish there were video and text comparisons
to help me make up my mind on this important decision.

The NX5 would be more appropriately compared the to the AC160, due to VFR and other features that are on the NX5 and the AC160 but not on the AC130. The pixel count is higher on the AC cameras for a start.

This video below compares the NX5U with the AC-160. However, AC-130 video should be indistinguishable.

What terrible white bablancing!

I agree. I was actually wondering if the Sony was warm to reflect the true color of the lights. And the the panny was a bit cool.

Spent too much focus and time on the introduction of the video. Or maybe both were on auto mode?

The description for the video says that they were shot in manual mode, but I suspect that the videographer is referring only to exposure, and not white balance.

I highly suspect auto white balance was used with both camcorders. And if so, the Panasonic definitely performed better.

Not a very good comparison having such different white balance...but still for me the Panasonic looks a little too cold.

Anyway, is it just me, or the Panasonic actually looks sharper?

It is. The Panansonic has 2 megapixel sensors and the Sony only has 1 megapixel sensors.

Never have thought the NX5 would look so "un-sharp" until it's compared side to side with the Panny...

Sony looks like it was set on outdoor WB preset and maybe the anti flicker filter was set on ( which it is default). Both would make the picture not look as sharp. I have the NX5U and confirm this effect. Focus is also very critical and the NX5U auto focus is not that good. So not a good comparison at all. One should also not get confused between sensor sites and pixels interpolated by the DSP.

The outdoor WB preset on the NX5U softens the picture...? Why would it do that?

And what does the anti-flicker filter do anyway?

I would love someone to do a head to head comparison between the NX5U and the AC160. It is the only way some of us are going to make a decision.

The outdoor WB does not soften the picture but indoors biases the colours giving the impression of softening. The anti flicker filter corrects for flickering in the image due to florescent lights or screens etc. I think it blends the fields softening the image but taking away the flicker. Turning it on and off has a big effect , at least on my NX5U.

I also would love to see more footage comparing the AC160/130 vs the NX5U. If anyone has both cameras, please post the comparison. Thanks in advance.
