Nice looking cage. It is still well above my side business/hobbiest budget but I salute your effort and will probably donate to the cause when I get some time. cheers

That thing looks pretty sweet. If you are having issues raising the money for production. I think the site is startup.org. Another place to try to get some donations.

There are people who do film in Ft. Myers? WAAAATT. I'm in Bradenton.

Cage looks pretty nice... Congrats on being a FL filmmaker. I'm up in Orlando and finishing up my feature script to start the long haul called pre-production.... I've shot quite a bit in Ft. Myers and Bradenton. Nice area down there....

I do also understand the ego that you described. Its really pretty darn large....

you can pledge for 2 at the price option for international orders... you don not need to buy 50 cages...

Вы можете залог на двоих в цене вариант для международных заказов ... Вы не не нужно покупать пятьдесят клетки ...

Woa, "Russian007" - Tu ingles si de veras es malisimo. :)
La idea es que el tiene que vender por lo menos cinquenta para poder construirlos. Usted puede comprar cuanto quieres.

Are those real cages? Have you made a prototype? They look like 3D images from CAD with student discount license. Good lord. Correct the title to "3D PW Cage is prolly in my harddrive".

I've just ordered a Shrig from Tim Ovey - now I'm getting worried that Fedex will just deliver a photo of a cage on Tuesday ..... :cheesy:

Perry Wilson

they are renders, no I have not made a proto, because Im agin NOT making money on these and for me to make just one would be $1200... thats why 50 need to be ordered... But I am a fabricator, have been for 5 years, made everything from bowling alley equipment to $100k plus custom choppers... the specs and designs have been checked and tripple checked for fitment... this isnt something designed in an hour... this is 2 months of hard work and the renders were done by another member of Personal-view, and HE did an AMAZING job

Hey Perry, to attach the gh2 top and bottom, would we use the hot shoe adapter like the shrigg rig? And can we get some renders of the bottom of the cage?

Cheers and congrats!

yes you can use any hotshoe mount like the cheap ones found on ebay...http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pro-1-4-20-Tripod-Mount-Screw-Flash-Hot-Shoe-Adapter-Camera-Nikon-SC-28-/180754160592?pt=Camera_Flash_Accessories&hash=item2a15c99bd0

Nice. I'll check it all out. Here in the Bradenton area there isn't much going on at all.

Hey Perry,

Is there anything to prevent the GH2 from twisting? A little lip or something that rests against the edge of the camera, so it's not just relying on pressure from the tripod screw to keep it aligned?

There is a product like that already (can't remember the exact name or brand) but it was only for Arca swiss type mounts

I can't tell from the renderings but is there a cutout space in the cage to attach a cable to the audio jack? Since a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter is needed to attach standard mini plugs to the audio jack, you need to make a large enough cutout for it.

The ReWo cage was introduced earlier this year.

Also a review of the ReWo from back in May 2011
http://www.eoshd.com/content/639/rewo-gh2-cage-full-review

The similarities between the two are way too close, even the notching around the shutter release. There's no way that's by coincidence. Hmmmmm.

I'm not convinced a dedicated fitted cage to a camera is a good idea, because camera product cycles are short and a GH3 is certainly within 6-12 months and who knows if it will maintain the same body design. I've been using an Easom cage for 2 years, received number 4 in the first batch and find that design is so versatile. Easom can be used with Canons, GH2, Nikons, Sony DSLRs.

Best of luck with the PW cage project.

I am absolutely in for a production model of this.

Just what I am looking for (worst thing about the GH2 is "inadvertently touching all the buttons)

I do not want to go down the "investor route" but certainly do advise via this forum if it goes into production or if you have one for sale in the very near future please.)

From the PW Cage IndieGoGo website:

These are limited run cages. Once the IndieGoGo is over it’s over.
There will be no production run beyond this one. If you want one, you'd better get in on the IndieGoGo offer.

I too think it is far too similar to ReWo's cage. Is this a copy?

Perry Wilson

it isnt a copy, it is a redesign based on inspiration from their system. If you followed the thread on personal view, you would have seen that it was designed by member suggestions. There are only so many shapes that follow the GH2 body.

Big deal. Whats your point? How many different ways can you possibly design a cage for a gh2, there has to be similarities, kinda like any two companies that make, jibs, 15mm rigs, steadycams, follow focuses, or pretty much anything ever designed that relates to filmmaking gear in general. Everybody has similar products. most people would call that competition.

I think it's a waste of time and bandwidth to even bring up such a moot point. And if your happy with what your currently using, then dont buy it. So in the future, you may think twice about trolling someones thread for no good reason!

I must have been writing this at the same time you were Perry. lol

If it cheaper then Rewo still okey for me if it copied it. But I cant do crowfunding.
