Thanks for the low light demo. Looks like you have to push the gain pretty hard to see substantial noise.
Anyone know how many stops are gained at +30 db on this camera?

AFAIK 6dB is one stop so 30dB would be 5 stops.

This is great. Thank you. I'd love to have the original files to play with. I can supply some web space if you need it.

Hi inefab,
I am considering upgrading from my XHA1 and would very much be interested in getting some raw footage of the HPX250 to view on my system and testing through the editing process for ease of use etc ...
No file size is too big for me to download. I just want to check it out first hand.
I am trying to way up pro and cons ... I am only really seeing Pros and wondering what the catch is...
Thanks

informative and fun, a rare combo.
you seemed to have been enjoying yourself which is a very good thing when a new tool arrives.

Awesome video, this is probably the first camera test I've watched to the end in a while :cheesy:
Seeing as this is a 3-sensor camcorder, I'm somewhat surprised you expected aliasing/moire at all, Panny has this really nailed by now. It looks just like my 370 does, though the PAP 1 filter seems to brighten the image up more. Was there any grading involved or just straight from cam, and which settings?

This works for me too, if it's not a problem.
If not, then at least some full-res frame grabs from the footage? Preferably in .png?

Hey inefab,
Thanks for sharing your test!
If you have time, it would be great to see some various skin tone tests, and also to see how the camera handles highlights on skin tones.
Faces in sunlight, tungsten...all would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for sharing your files, inefab.
Unfortunately, I'm at a loss for how to deal with mxf files. Tried opening in quicktime, vlc, importing to fcp, log and transfer...nothing seems to recognize.
Sorry for dumb question: Anyone able to help?
Thanks!

Download the AVCIntra codec for FCP:

Hi THoff...thanks for the link.
I went there and found a link that said: "If you are working with Final Cut Pro 7, the AVC-Intra decoder from Panasonic is not required because the Final Cut Pro 7 natively supports decoding of AVC-Intra format."
I am working in FCP7, so not sure the problem? Any ideas?

I don't use a Mac so I cannot give you many details, but you need to extract all the files from the archive and then point the ingest tool at the folder above the CONTENTS folder. You should then be able to select the clip(s) you want to ingest.

Hi, there is no CONTENTS folder in the rar file. Only MXF one. I personaly use Premiere
There are some softwares you can download from panasonic like "P2 Wiever". I Use it on a PC. There's a mac version too.
You can use After Effect too.
Bye.
