Briefly - had a chance to film Zumba workout recently in a dark (DARK) club. Took a Manfrotto 561B monopod instead of tripod.

I've used the monopod with an EX1 and the Canon 550D. Didn't really like it to be honest. Felt 'all at sea'.

With the FS100 with either Tokina 11-16 or 18-200 kit lens (which - with lots of gain - worked surprisingly well), got great shots:

- Pseudo steadicam
- Pseudo crane (boomed it over audience, swinging it around)
- Standard telephoto shots
- Stable GVs
- High reach shots for sign outside club

The weight/balance was 'just right'. Highly recommended!

Monopods are very underrated. I bought a cheapo one and it's been of great for my not so steady hands.

Even when it's not fully extended it helps a lot, for example, I can hold it against my thighs for a quick shot (stills or a quick motion close up), it shifts the tiny GH center of balance and makes for more steady movements, it's great for when you want a steady shot and it doesn't have to be a stationary tripod shot.

The 561B is an extremely sophisticated monopod though...
