I totally liked the colors!

Letīs make this a general Video Thread.

My latest piece: BEWARE! Pure manlyness! :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) Three days of excessive gaming, eating crap and drinking beer!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXq6WWrUGLo&feature=mh_lolz&list=HL1318776775

Used a standard gamma and standard color to maximize shadow detail, but it makes the video very videoish, too.

Good idea! Just for everyone's info, I used Frank's outdoors PP for my video. I liked the way
it worked for sunny weather.

This was all shot with the kit lens. I just ordered some FD lenses off ebay and should have them within a week. But I have not made a decision
on if I should go with Sony A mount or Nikon lenses yet, and until I can figure that out, I'm just using the kit lens (and soon some fast
FD lenses).

Yes, good work! which ones did you end up choosing to get?

So far I've just bought a 28mm F2.5 and a 50mm F1.4, plus the FD to E mount adapter. This way, I can keep bidding on any FD mount stuff I see
that I like, and have the adapter to use it if I win the bid. I just put in a bid on the 28mm one with a max bid of $20 not really thinking
I'd win it.....it also tricked me as the listing said 28mm F .25. I had never heard of a lens like that, but the bidding was at $2.50 with
only a couple hours left, so I put in a max bid of $20 and ended up winning the bid. Then I found out it was really a F2.5. No biggie, as
it's still much faster than the kit lens at 28mm so no great loss, only 20 dollars. It gets kind of addicting looking on ebay through the
60-70 pages of FD mount lenses, looking for that 'bargain' lens that you want!

There is no such thing as a FD 28mm f2.5, so I hope you didn't get ripped off, it is either a 2 or 2.8, but the 50mm 1.4 is great, so sharp!

This is one of my problems, I don't know enough about any of the still lenses to know what is realistic, or good, and so on. I've never done stuff with still
lenses before. This is the URL of the supposed F2.5 28mm lens I bought:

That's not a canon FD lens, it's a Vivitar that uses the FD mounting system. You have to be careful when going through them all and make sure that it says Canon FD lens not FOR canon fd mount. The 50mm f1.4 should be a FD though, have you got a link to that?

Wow, well at least it wasn't an expensive lesson I guess...only a $20 one.

Yeah, the 50mm f1.4 link is here:

Which ones did you get? I was thinking the 50mm 1.4 would make for a good 'interview' lens. I got it for $54. We will see once I get it.
Also, the FD mount to E mount adapter I bought is 'supposed' to have aperture control on it, so I may try the Vivitar lens on it and see what
happens, unless you have knowledge that says that is a bad idea......

The vivitar will go on the adapter because it uses an FD mount, but I am not sure if it has manual controls for both focus and aperture!

I've bought the 28mm f2.8 and 70-200mm f4, I have heard the 28mm f2.8 is a bit soft, but I am willing to find that out myself, I also have the 50mm f1.4 and I think that will do for my standard FD collection, might pick up a 14mm, but then I am just going to line-up the L series FD lenses, and collect as many of them as I can!

So what is the deal with L series FD lenses? Is there some reason that you are going for those?

Couple of reasons...

Higher optics and mech
they generally have faster apertures (for example: 85 L series is 1.2 instead of 1.8, 200mm is 1.8 instead of 2.8, etc..)
Some of the lenses only ever got made in the L series, like the 14mm wide-angle, the 24-35 & 20-35, the 50-300mm, the 150-600mm, etc...

I am very keen to get my hands on the 14mm, 24mm, 50mm and 85mm in the L series, I am watching some on eBay, but they are expensive, have to save up first ;-)

I actually owned the Vivitar 28 2.5, though with an M42 mount. It was actually quite sharp in close focus. Once you started getting farther away it got very soft until stopped down to about 5.6ish

The mechanics were great though; silky-smooth focus ring and aperture (after I de-clicked it)

I received my 28mm today, I chucked it on the FS100 to check out the focal differences between the 50mm as the 28 is now my widest lens.

Both at f4 and I think they look pretty sharp.

I just got the Vivitar 28mm F2.5 today. It has both manual focus and a manual iris ring. So I am hoping it will work. Seems like it is in really good shape. Hopefully I will
get the FD to NEX adapter tomorrow, and the 50mm F1.4 early next week. Once I get them, I will do a shoot with them and post. It's pretty sweet, I got the 28mm F2.5 for $20
and the 50mm F1.4 for $54!
