I recently picked up the aforementioned Canon VT and am wondering if the set of primes I got with it would work (be worthwhile using) with the FS100, assuming I had the proper adapter. Wondering if anyone knows which adapter would be required.

canon 35mm 1.8
canon 50mm 1.8
steinheil munchen culminar 85mm 2.8
schneider-kreuznach tele-xenar 135mm 3.5

Also have an Argus rangefinder w/ the standard primes that came w/ that camera. Would love to employ these lenses if possible.

Many thanks for any comments/suggestions!

Wikipedia says the Canon VT uses the Leica M39 screw mount... in which case this might do the job:

(http://www.fotodiox.com/product_info.php?products_id=642)I've no idea about your lenses, but I don't see any issues. One problem with some rangefinder lenses is where the rear nodal point is too close to the film plane; this makes the angle of incidence of the light on the film very shallow, which doesn't work for digital sensors. But this is basically an issue for superwide lenses (20mm or so).

In fact, since the FS100's sensor is smaller than full frame, your lenses should be improved -- you won't be using the edges / corners where performance is usually weakest.

Don't forget to allow for a 1.6x crop factor (so your 50mm will become an 80mm equivalent).

I don't have any problems using an old Russian M39 with an adaptor (other than massive flare, the coating is about inexistent).

the crop factor on the fs100 is 1.52x so basically the same as nikon, 1.5x very slight difference but noticeable.

the crop factor on the fs100 is 1.52x....

I guess it just depends on how you calculate the diagonal... although thinking about it your figure is probably the better one. I was using the actual 16:9 sensor size (23.6x13.3mm, I think) on the FS100, compared to the 3:2 size of full frame, which isn't really a like-to-like comparison. OTOH Super35 is 4:3, so neither is that, really....

Many thanks for all the suggestions, truly appreciate it!
So would an adapter like this perhaps work?

Thanks again!
