Anyone have an FX-1 or Z1U in the Bay Area that would let me take a look at it? You would be there of course. The reason why I'm asking is because I'm in the market for buying one but I just want to play around with one first. I thought about renting one but with insurance and fees, I thought I might go this way.

Thanks,
Kev

The Apple Retail Store usually has a Sony FX-1 available for demonstration.. Sony Style doesn't hardly even take theirs out of the locked glass case. I'd check out the Apple Store.

its a really tough time deciding to buy or not.every 3 months something new and a massive price drop.

Wanna know a secret? Some people never buy a camera. They'll get everything else, like a superb set of sticks, cine accessories, filters, lighting and grip equipment, and rent their camera every time for a shoot. The accessories don't need replaced or at least second thought every six months like a camera. This is especially true if you're an occasional shooter, like a couple of times a month only and prefer a larger camera like a sdx900. Much better to rent a fast depreciating item like a camera if you're not using it every single day. If only shooting a single project, like an independent movie, you can usually rent much better equipment than you can afford to buy... so with a camera, you could buy a DVX or rent a HD camera for a week for about the same money. Just my thoughts.
