I have an XL1. I've heard alot about HDV but haven't actually seen it in person. Does it really look better than DV? How does it compare to HD? Should the new JVC coming out this summer be good enough for National TV? Does anyone know if the JVC has Hue Saturation adjustment like XL2?
THanks

Do you have an Apple Store near you? They usually have Sony HDV showing on a 23" HD Display.
Seeing is believing.
Just make sure to scroll through the iMovie timeline do see all the compression artifacts.

Is it significantly better than DV?...Yes...Is it significantly worse than DVCPRO HD?...Yes.

HDV, on an HDTV, is way significantly better than DV up-rezzed to HDTV resolution, all other things being equal (meaning, comparing interlaced vs. interlaced, etc). Whether you'd prefer interlaced HDV over up-rezzed 24p is a matter of taste, although soon the JVC will be on the market and will provide for native HDV 24p as well.
HDV on a standard-def TV is not better than DV. But when viewed on a high-def TV, in its native high-def resolution, yes it's significantly sharper and noticeably higher resolution.
