View Full Version : Can I adapt an EX3 lens to the FS100 ?

The EX3 kit lens has a 1/2" bayonet mount. I'm wondering whether anyone's made an adapter from that to the e-mount. Of course I'd also need to know whether the EX3 lens would cover the FS100 sensor. What I like about the EX3 lens is that it provides smooth aperture control.

very very unlikely that the glass would cover the chip area

The EX3's chip is about 6mm wide. The FS100's sensor is almost 24mm wide. That makes the FS100's chip about 16x larger than the EX3's. If you put that EX3 lens on the FS100, all you're going to get is a screen that is solid black, except for a little tiny circle of image in the very center.

Thank you, Barry ! Wouldn't it be sweet if Sony had a lens like that for us ?

They do .. its the kit lens

6.3 sort of gives the EX look and the extra light sensitivity means 6.3 is OK in dull conditions

I agree a nicer RnG lens woulbe be wonderful but look at the size of things like the Red 18-80

4.5 KG - I dont want it even though I can afford a (very) used one
