I am planning to get the hvx-200 soon after it is released, but will probably not adopt a full blown hd work-flow until paid work demands it. I don't yet own a dvx 100a, but have used one and 24p footage looks amazing on the big screen from standard dvd and low end data projectors. Lets be realistic, this is the only way 99.9% of independently produced will ever be seen on a big screen. Using the same gamma settings I would assume that the hvx will intercut quite seemlessly with the dvx when both are shooting dv. I'm not in a big market, without rental options, but a couple of shooters that I regularly work with have the dvx. dv plus p2 allows most live action footage to be shot on mini-dv with acceptable sd results. Special effects/ green screen work could be shot in dvcpro-50 codec. Back ground and effects plates could be shot in 720p or 1080 for resizing possibilities. Plus in camera slowmotion, wow! The configuration I plan to adopt initially would be the basic camera with maybe one 4gig card to allow the mentioned options. In 2 years or five, if sd is dead, and Hd is everyday hopefully long runtime cards will be cheap and the hvx will be on ok b-camera to whatever is the hot rig that everybody wants. For now it will be a great A- cam to the dvx's B, with the ability to grab second unit inserts for varicam or cine-alta shows. I remember not more than a couple of months ago, many on this board would have been happy if the next dvx was native 16x9. Now you are boo hooing that p2 doesn't run long enough. If it delivers, this will be far more than any would have thought possible in the next dvx model. Embrace it for what it is. For full Hd work flow, options will have to be tested for a balance of time and cost effectiveness.

How about a Dvx100 with native 16x9 chips dubed the dvx100b

How about an HVX200 with b mount lenses dubbed HVX200b for b mount.

How about an HVX200 with tape only, dubbed HVX100 and cost $3,999

I would still like a DVX100 with native 16:9. I think they would sell pretty good.
