Hey guys,

I'm in the process of keying some footage and I can't find the darn garbage matte. Anyone know where I need to look? AE does have a garbage matte feature right?

I'm sure it has something to do with some big movie and there was a garbage can in the shot and the director needed to get rid of it in post.......

Yeah, that's basically it. There were some C-stands in the way and someone said

"Can we get that garbage out of the shot?

to which someone else replied

"We'll get it in post."

And thus it was dubbed a garbage matte. Or so they say...

I always thought it was named after Jean-Pierre LeGarbagge- the inventor of sodium light film compositing back in the 1920's.

Did you really think that, or did you just want to show off the fact that you knew who LeGarbagge was?

EDIT: You completely made that up, didn't you?
