Help me count the cost.
1. New HVX Camera: $6000
2. P-2 cards @$2000ea $4000
3. HD Monitor $1500 ?
4. NLE upgrade
- currently use Adobe Premiere Pro 1 ?????
5. DVD Authoring upgrade ????
- currently use Adobe Encore 1
6. Tape Deck to replace new DSR11 ????
Other needed items??

Would my Sony dvd recorder be able to record an HD signal. I paid 500 for it so I hope it works.

DVCPro HD is a different league. while HDV still was 25mbs we are now in the 100mbs league. codecs will cost i am afraid.
by the time the cam comes out maybe the HD monitors will be a bit lower.
but the com puter upgrade to edit 100mbs will cost a bit.
big question will be if we actually ned a tapedeck. maybe there will be a BluRay / HD-DVD variant out and we can distribute that?!
