Alright, the JVC looks terrific, it absolutely blows the Z1 out of the water as far as indie filmmaking cameras go. But I'm still going to go with the Panasonic simply because Panasonic has just been great with the DVX100/100A and all sorts of other cameras with 24p.
Alright, first thing to check is P2. Well, I can't really afford two 4gb cards, maybe not even one at all after NLE, audio, external HDD, and extra lense expenses. So, my only option is to stream to laptop and have everything set up in a flexible enviroment, meaning one with electrical sockets to plug everything in to =).
One thing that's already set is my laptop. I have an Alienware 51m, the older one from last year, not the newer ones. Its specs are:
3ghz Pentium 4 800mhzfsb
1gb of PC3200 DDRSDRAM
60gb 7200RPM HDD
ATI Radeon 9700 ProM
Onboard sound
DVD/CDRW Drive
My question is whether DVRack supports DVCPROHD or just HD in general (I know they support HDV now but what about the others?). Also, would DVRack use any more RAM if I added it, like from 1gb>2gb?
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not going to be buying this all at once. I'm going to buy stuff throughout the year and possibly part of 2006 until I've got everything I need. So what should I go for first?
New NLE plus DVRack and other supporting software
Audio equipment (thinking Sennheiser booms 64,66,67)
Computer equipment (more RAM for laptop, external storage)
Sorry if this thread is in the wrong area. I'm just wanting to get some help on planning my future work routine.
