View Full Version : Stock microphone

I really didn't expect much from the stock microphone that comes with the FS100. But just for kicks I did a quick on-camera mic test in my reverb-heavy garage, comparing it with an Audio Technica short shotgun (model number escapes me, but it's a top quality mic). The AT sound was noticeably fuller spectrum, and it picked up some of the garage reverb and street noise as expected. The stock mic was a bit muffled on the high end, but picked up almost none of the garage reverb or street noise (speech was at the same meter level). It was really quite impressive. It seems like they have managed to really squeeze a tight pickup pattern out of this seemingly cheap little mic. It could be great for on-camera interviews in a pinch.
