When I click on some generators or transitions, it just shows up as a blue thumbnail and when I import it, it's still blue. Any ideas?

Did you download the extra content? If so I wonder if it installed right

I did. I guess I'll try re-installing.

Re-installing did nothing. Now fcp crashes everytime I select one of those effects or what have you. I can't even delete without it crashing.

Well something is definitely messed up... sounds uncommon as I haven't heard of the problem before this or experienced. Perhaps try deleting and redownloading/installing the whole app. Beyond that, I'd call/email Apple tech support.

I'll give it a shot tomorrow. Thanks.

So I re-downloaded the fcpx app and re-installed. I'm still having the same issue. It actually seems worse now... If I mouse over blobs in the generators section, I see it for a split second and then everything goes blue. But curtains for instance works fine. I'm really stumped.

Yeah, that's messed up. I would contact Apple

I thought you got a refund for FCPX. You were all excited to dump it within a day. What gives now? http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?253539-Apple-is-giving-me-my-money-back...

Well I guess a guy can't change his mind hey? I re-bought the app after playing around some more and thought it wouldnt hurt to have it. I tried premiere and wasn't that excited about it. I had some time off and started playing a bit and like some aspects of the program. I'm still sticking with 7 until some stuff gets hashed out by apple but I want to try to learn a bit of it in my free time. The blue screen deal isn't a big plus though.

Oh interesting; sounds like something Apple hasn't worked out yet with in terms of deleting/reinstalling. The Mac App Store is very new, I'll bet that's what caused the problem. Sucks you have to beta test it, but I'd bring it to their attention.

Have you tried the ancient trick of fixing FCP by trashing the preferences? It might work even with XFCP.

I just got off the phone with Apple support for the last hour. They are stumped right now, but are being very cool about the whole thing. Martti, I did try trashing prefs, no luck. I'll let you know if Apple figures anything out. Just emailed them my crash report...

out of curiosity, what happen when you returned the software to the app store and they refunded you? did the program disappear off your computer or did you have to manually delete it?

I deleted the program when the money came back to my credit card. I don't know how long or if the program would have stayed on, but I'm paranoid about piracy of any kind so I had to delete it. i then thought some more and decided to re-buy it based on the fact that its only 300 and I may end up using at least some of the features one day. In the meantime, I am kind of slow so learning something new is always a way to keep my head in the game...

So after 2 days on and off the phone with Apple support, who were truly great btw, we have figured out there is something wrong with my user account. We started a new test user and the program worked fine. So in order to get the program to work for me I have to start the tedious process of migrating to a new user account. Has anyone ever done this?
