So using Avid enables me to keep my clips in progressive?
Premiere cannot do this right?

I do not know whether Premiere allows this or not, but with any Avid product, a progresive project (p) preserves the full vertical and progressive frame rate in all effects and renders. Xpress DV does not have a "p" project, but Xpress Pro has full support for the DVX100 camera for both PAL and NTSC (23.976p and 25p).

I don't know why, but FCP and Vegas Video do deal with it directly and Avid Xpress Pro will when it ships in a few weeks and MC Adrenaline already does. You would need to check with the site's moderator.
