After I'm finished editing a fcp 7 project and deliver, I go to the storage drive and throw out all the source video files to free up space...is that possible with fcpx and if so how would you then reimport the files to bring everything back for updating...you know, reconnect the media so you could just pickup where you left off? Thank you for any insight.

On fcp 7, if you delete the source files...you won't be able to reconnect.

On fcp X, there is no "reconnect" function. Period.

You would have to reimport, not 'reconnect.'

So would reimport keep your timeline/edit intact in fcpx. From what I've seen in demos is if a file is missing it just says it's missing and offers no options to get it back?

Also that is true in fcp 7 that if you delete the source you cannot batch connect until you get the footage back from either log and import or log and transfer. But then fcp 7 is smart enough to reconnect (sorry if my terminology is off) the clips within your edited sequence. So does fcpx do this if you "reimport" the footage?

Also does it use the native mts files or do you need the whole private directory structure to import footage from say sdhc cards?

Thanks!
