Is there going to be a 24P normal mode as well as a 24P Advance mode like in DVX100? How does 24P work in HD and in SD on this new camera?

Yes. There will be both modes. It works the same way.

Does it work the same way on HD? Or does HD record the 24 frames without the interlaced frame?

In 1080, pulldown is inserted to record in 60i, just like with DV.
In 720, pulldown is inserted to record in 60p.

In 720p there's no need for pulldown at all, it stores the frames directly.
In 1080p it works exactly like the DVX does, storing the progressive frames within interlaced fields, and adding a fifth interlaced frame to every grouping of four frames to keep the data rate at a constant 60 fields per second.
It's exactly the same.

For the HVX I think that it only records 24 frames to the P2 Cards, but for the Varicam it does add pulldown to conform to 60p.
Edit: Barry beat me to it.

Then I was told wrong by a Panasonic rep (not Jan) in the booth. He said it pulled down (just like the Varicam) to 60p. Made sense to me, but I don't doubt you, Barry.

In 720P, the HVX only records the 24 flagged frames. In 1080i, the 24 frames are recorded in a pull down. Not sure who you talked to but frankly there were some errors in understanding the customer's question and misunderstandings of the technology in the booth. Sorry if you walked away with the incorrect answer.
Best,
Jan

For streamed output over the firewire, or to the analog component outputs, that would be true. Or for downconversion to the DV tape.
But for recording on the P2 card, no wasted space at all, no pulldown at all, just 24 discrete frames recorded per second.

Aha! Then I wasn't imagining things. The context could well have been streaming.
