Which one is the second one? I can tell by the colors it's canon, but I don't recognize the model.
they all look pretty much the same since VX1000

Can`t really see the similarities. And it`s a XM2 (here in Europe). Really like/liked that camera

That explains why my XM2 cried when I showed it the HVX..

So they have sorta like the same body shape as the VX 1000 , pd 150 and 170, Z1, etc....
What's your point? The basic shape is the same for a lot of cams. Body, lens and grab handle on top...

Yeah, so? Btw, that's a Canon GL2.
How many ways can you build a camera? You stick the lens in front and the view finder in the back. Big whoop dee doo. The wheel doesn't have to be reinvented.
Pookie, stop hating on the HVX. We all know you will be first in line to buy one when it drops.
David Jimerson

The HVX is considerably larger.

You know what looks even more like that camera. The DVX, hmmm the DVX not a bad camera, think it has a pretty good rep, people like it, it takes pretty pictures, and has a good beat. I'll give it a ten.
WHAT IS YOUR POINT

You don't buy a drill because you want a drill, You buy it because you need a hole. You get the best tool you can for the job you are doing. Who cares what it looks like.

Do you buy a car even if it's the most hideous thing on wheels just because it will "do the job"? Some people do, some people dont... but a LOT of people put some importance on form factor and style in their "tools"
Jim Brennan

Yes, if it serves your needs. Looks don't matter much to me. It's not about how cool something is, or what it looks like. I'm not saying that, all other things being equal, form or style should never play a part in the decision making process. But too often people get hung up on how something looks, or what other people will think when they see it. Your example of a car is perfect. How many nimrods are out there, paying more than they can afford for a car (truck, suv, whatever) that uses too much gas so they can look cool. They buy a suburban when a minivan will do? (or in some cases a Honda Civic will do) You should be allowed to get what you want if you can afford it. But you should always ask yourself "why" are you choosing what you are getting. Function before form. Always.
What the hell is trolling?

At least have the balls to identify yourself when you decide to delete posts to sanitize the board of any "ooh I don't like that, it might offend the children" posts.
This place is entirely devoid of both maturity (yes the all mighty moderators who hide behind their "status") , and humour.

I agree. I think that's why *some* people choose Macs over PC's....cause' in General....they LOOK really nice. Who cares which one is better. The Mac looks better sitting on your desk than a Silver or Black BOX!! My opinion anyway......remember......that opinion is from a "lowly" PC user with 4 or 5 clunky boxes sitting on his desk. :(

Pookie I am not sure what is going on with you lately. But you are starting to sound like that Uncle who is disgruntled with life and and had a few too many bourbons at the family get together. What is up with MR. Black cloud? And why are you taking it out here.

I'm not taking anything out here.
Ask the moderators, since they decide what you shouldn't read, apparently DVXuser members can't decide for themselves, so they must "decide" for you.
As far as your comment to me, as you don't have the facts, it would be hard for you to follow my post.

The children are pouting.
It seem's if you point out how rediculous the posts are in reference to the picture I posted, with the simple message "Separated at birth........?", the kiddies here become offended.
My post pointed out the sad state of the matter.
Apparently those who control the delete button were afraid no one could handle it.
It's a simple picture, posted for no reason other than the fact the two cameras resembled each other.
The posts following the picture are self explanitory, and show the sad state of affairs......to compare the pictures of a Panasonic to a Canon, with only a side view, is considered sacreligious, and the moderators decided you were all sheep in need of protection.
Too sad.
I'm sure this will mysteriously disappear as well.

No better production vehicle on the planet! :)
i drive a full size mini van (its really not that mini..) for production most of the time. I
cant say that its as good as the element, but i can say that its perfect for me most of the time. it can seat 7, and still has room in back for all the equipment . other days i drive an old brick. ..its not as nice.
Man, I drive a Jeep Wrangler. Try fitting all your gear into that thing! I always have to have my sound guy bring his (not so) mini van to help cart everything around.

Yeah, that's another thing that sucks about the Jeep. The windows are so huge on it, it's like driving around in the Pope mobile. Everyone can see everything, so there's no running into the store really quick if you've got your gear in the car.
Neil Rowe
04-23-2005, 09:46 AM
yeah that would suck. you should baord the windows up .. just hot glue some black foam core to the window frame .. that will stop them cold.
nothing gets through foamcore... nothing.

You got the wrong Jeep. A Cherokee is much better for hauling gear... and they're relatively cheap.
I've actually had that thought recently.
Live and learn I suppose. Oh well, the Jeep is fun in the summer because you can take the top off.

..one of my cohorts has a winch set up in his garage so he can drive the jeep under it, and attach the hard top and winch it up and off and then just drive out.. when he puts it back on you just drive under and lower it and throw some screws back in.

I think Pookie needs a Vacation; you sound really unhappy man. Why even hang-around here? All you do is complain about the current state of DVX; make pot-shots at the Moderators and spread some serious negative vibes and karma. No one is forcing you to be here and appears you've ran your course.
Why even make a post and 'Wait' for the replies to come pouring in just to berate or chastise anyone who replied? You used to be a pretty fun dude to have here but lately all I see is you moaning about it's not the same and The Mod's are assholes. Then get out of here if you're so unhappy. Maybe you should get out more, eh? If you're not feeling the same love you used to maybe that's your problem but don't balme the Mod's and other user's (newer member's).
Damn Pookie; come on bro. Lighten up.
