this might be a dumb question but oh well. i was just wondering if its possible to connect and attach a small lcd screen to the xl2. is the screen with the eye piece flipped up sufficient enough? i haven't played around with one of these cameras at all so i really have no idea. thanks!

Well, the flip eyepiece is really a Canon joke. I have the DVX and the XL2 and I can say that I really miss the larger view screen of DVX sometimes. I have beend looking at adding a small 5 or 7 inch screen to the XL2 for a while now. Nebtek (available at EVS) carries them. BH als carries screens from Varizoom, Marshall and Panasonic.

To mount the monitor you would simply put it on the shoe and connect it to the composite/BNC or S-video out on the camera.

Hey moogs, jeremy is right on, but i also wanted to add one thing: batteries. There are some monitors that use their own rechargeable batteries (Marshall and Varizoom), and some that use the DVX batteries (Nebtek NEB-70P and NEB-50P)

you mean those actually run off the camera's power, correct? do you have any personal preferences?

Moogs I posted this awhile ago about my monitor

but that nebtek is far more superior.

The Nebteks run off the same types of batteries as the camera, like the CGAD54SE1B, but not directly off the camera. It's cool if you're like me, and you have 5 of the 10-hr batteries.

The Nebs are a bit pricey but very sharp, mainly the 7", (which is a mod'd Panasonic monitor) especially if you are shooting with the 16:9 adapter on the DVX or with the upcoming HVX200, because it allows you to view the full 16:9 image in full res, at propect aspect, but still uses the DVX type batteries.
