Svideo cable length

Hello,
Would anyone know if there is a maximum svideo cable length that you should not exceed? I'm planning a shoot where one camera (not a dvx100) would be mounted on a ceiling and another camera (also, not a dvx100) would be used as a record deck with audio from mics running through a mixer and video (from the ceiling cam) being recorded via svideo cable. It'll be about 25 or 30 feet away. Would I be better off using the line video out and in to accomplish this?

Using a "good" quality cable, 300 feet is not a problem.

Use a "good" cable.

We used a 50 dollar 300' cable we got from a store here...and it worked PERFECTLY...

Pray-tell, what brands do you consider to be good for s-video?

I don't know if this helps, but I run a 75 foot Monster Brand S-Video cable and it works great.

Monster cables are SO expensive. How much did that set you back?

Sadly, unless you have your cable custom made (my choice), Monster is the way to go, although I haven't heard of them making anything over 25 feet.

Where do you have your cables made pookie? My s-video cables always seem to crap out.

Both work just fine TC. Save yourself some $$$.

Use a pair of adaptors like THIS (http://www.av-cables.net/svideo/s-video-seperators.html) and you can seperate the YC signal and run two BNC cables as far as you need.
