I understand that the best way to monitor audio in Avid Xpress Pro is to setup a mixer between the audio speakers and DV deck, with a firewire cable in turn going from the deck to the computer.
Michael, or anyone else, could you recommend a good but simple mixer that has a relatively small desktop footprint but can accomodate the connection between my Mackie HR626 speakers and Panasonic AG-DV1000 deck?
I'd like to hear some suggestions although I do have a few in mind. The HR626s have XLR, 1/4 Phone, and RCA connections, whereas the Panasonic deck only has RCAs.
Presently, I have the speakers going directly into my computer, and after going through the Avid documentation, I'd like to change this to the firewire setup.
