Hi guys,

Using avid xpress pro with my dvx100a and have no problems capturing my 24p adv. footage; however, no such luck with my dv1 using the exact same tape/footage. Avid recognizes the deck as a generic ntsc and controls it fine. I've tried to configure the deck as a pany product, but didn't see the dv1 as an option and have tried assigning it as a dvx100 as, according to many product reviews, the dv1 is basically the back half of a dvx100. It controls fine as a "dvx100" device as well. But every time I try to capture I get a non-dropped frame error, which is perplexing as the footage plays back correctly in the deck as well as within avid--the pulldown is applied on the fly within the dvx100a during recording, correct? Therefore, there shouldn't be any issues during capture.....

I'll be honest: I don't know much about any of this stuff, so whatever you guys can come up with would be much appreciated. I'd hate to have my camera hooked up to my workstation every time I want to capture--that's what I bought the minivtr for. I suppose I can always use another nle, but I've sunk enough money and time on xpress pro.... ???

by the way, I hope I haven't duplicated my post. I wrote this up last night and submitted it, but I didn't see it on the forum this morning so I wrote it again.

I need to check with engineering to see if this has been checked out and supported. It may be that you created a tape name before you played back your tape. Go to deck preferences, and make sure you have non drop seleced as "log footage as...". Also, make sure you roll the tape for a few seconds before giving it a tape name so that it does not get tagged as a dop frame tape when it really is non drop frame material.
