Hi all,
I'm new here and I just purchased a DVX100A. *I'd like to edit some footage I have into a short movie on my laptop, and I need to buy a firewire card. *The question is, which one works for anyone using a PC with Windows XP? *I have just downloaded Avid Free DV, but I only intend on trying the software and I may buy the Pro if I like it. (I've been "raised" in filmmaking on Final Cut Pro, but I don't want to buy a MAC!...) *Anyway, I'm just wondering what does the trick. I'd also like to get this straight as to what programs allow 24P editing/capture. *I'd like to do some special effects in After Effects and less frames more me to manipulate means possibly less work. :) Even capturing in 30p mode is fine, I just want one image rather than dealing with interlacing while doing special effects.
Thanks!
Susan

Xpress Pro is the first level product from Avid that will support native 24 frame capture from the camera. As far as adding FireWire to a laptop, any of the Pyro cards work fine.

you'll have to use Avid's "Mojo" add-on box for true 24p use.

Well i would suggest the MAC with FCP for sure, but other than that, go out and get Vegas Video 4. That will do what you need and is really easy to learn!
