View Full Version : Which is best Laptop to run Avid Xpress Pro?
Ok, I have a Toshiba 5105-S607 laptop running a P4M @ 1.7gHz that I've been overall very happy with. I also have Avid Xpress Pro. I'm finding that this machine is a bit underpowered to run my Avid software. And I know Mojo will not be possible.
I'd like to know what you guys recommend as the best (most powerful) and most compatible laptop for Avid Xpress Pro. I'm eyeing the Toshiba P25 Series. Or would a tower system be better, and if so, which one?
I need to invest in a top-notch editing station soon.
Thanks,

It would run decent on there. Just make sure you have alot of ram, actually I would probably up the processor too. But mostly the ram, and hard drive space is your biggest needs, but dont get me wrong, you need a decent processor also!

but yes a tower system would be the best, and screw "WHICH ONE" build your own system with your own specs, or if you cant, have a local friend thats good with it, do it for you! not hard at all, i built my last 2 computers.. Here is a picture of the latest one :

Cool. I think I may just build my own tower. What specs do you recommend? I want to maximize my Avid Xpress Pro experience. I hear dual Xeon Processors are key.

yeah dual is bad ass, but just look at my specs and build that, or better... mine works great with avid xpress pro!
Hey, I saw your website. Very cool!
What is the name of that case you've got? Do you think it is worth going for Xeon or Pentium 4 holds up fine? I'm comfortable building a system, just want to make sure I have the correct system specs for Avid Xpress Pro. I mean, I know it is not a "qualified" system but as long as it works . . .
Thanks,
