Just saw this was added to Panasonic's site.
Go to the HVX200 SITE (http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ModelDetail?storeId=11201&catalogId=13051&itemId=93120&catGroupId=14569&surfModel=AG-HVX200&surfCategory=Cinema%20Series%20Cameras&displayTab=R) and check out the "Support and Resources" part at the bottom.
The link for the PDF brochure is there.
Doesn't say anything new, but at least it's something new to look at.
They're just teasing us at this point.

Bringing this brochure into Photozoom, I'm able to make out the following buttons:
Focus Assist
ND Filter
Focus
Push/Auto
I know... nothing earth shattering.

The 18th is the first day of exhibits, but Apple will be presenting it at a press conference on the 17th.

I just KNOW, that when it's released, it'll be some super high price and everyone here will cry - me included...It's just sounding too good to be true for us wanting something to compete with the Z1.

I like the line in the PDF that says "VARICAM-level creativity" Now that would be waayy cool... if it worked like a Varicam...

I saw pictures of the camera yesterday.
It has 2 P2 slots.
What i do not understand is what is panasonic thinking that we can do we just 4 Gb cards (and the price they have)! THat gives us 4 minutes of HD!

Yes Luis, I am sorry, my web guy has a odd sense of humor. He actually wanted to construct the links so that on Monday when the full brochure goes up, the framework was there.
Best,

Yesterday, at a Panasonic presentation of their P2 cameras and VCRs.
The LCD screen of the HVX is quite bigger than the DVX.
It is all black.
And it is pretty similar in the rest to a DVX.
Interesting: the batteries go horizontally!

Does it have a...TAPE DRIVE?

I feel manipulated and somewhat abused with this teasing. Shame on Panasonic. As penance, I respectfully suggest that Jan should arrange a DVXUser evaluation for the membership immediately.
I've PM'd you with my mailing address, just email me with the tracking number.
This is the internet. I don't believe everything. Why would they be showing the camera in Spain before the NAB. Why would a battery go horizontal? Where would it even go sideways?

I just saw pictures, not the real camera Zim.
Just wait a week and you will see that what i said was true.
The P2 cards are introduced under the viewfinder, horizontally.
So there is not enought space to acommodate the battery vertically under the viewfinder. That is why it is turned 90š.
Anyway, i guess the image is great, but still do not trust the price and storage capabilities of the P2 cards.
I would had prefered a high capacity disc as the one used on the XDCAMs.
Sure a hard memory is better than a disc, but we cannot afford to buy 10 P2 cards which would cost more than the camera. And we have tapes with a price of $5 and a storage capacity of 10-12 Gb.

You just never know,,,
So if the viewfinder is on the left and the card slots are on the left,,,what side was the battery on? Do the pictures show the right side where maybe a tape drive could go?
How come they get pictures in Spain and we get a picture with a plastic sheet ovet it?

It will have specs and pictures, isn't the final brochure but the rest of the brochure that is currently missing. The one that is online now is missing 4 pages.

well according to mcgregors report ..the viewfinder is in the center.. just like the DVX - the cards are in the center under it,, and the battery is centered under that. the tape drive .. if it has one.. would be in the same place it is on the DVX. the viewfinder as we know is on the left side of the body of the cam. so thetape drive would have to be on the right in the hand hold area. .. im not sure that there would be enough room for the transport with the P2 cards going in sideways like that though. but a little space saving inginuity and im sure it could be done. + the camera is rumored to be fatter than the DVX.. which would by the transport some room if its there.

I think the guy needs an ass kicking for putting up that 'brochure'.
However if he hadn't done this then you all would have had to wait till we got back from NAB for this to be up. By his proving the path, he was able to set things in motion to be handled by someone else that is unfamiliar.
Best regards,

"Tired of the teasing" ??
"The guy needs an asskicking" ??
I love it when these tidbits get released a little at a time.
Makes me feel like a kid a few days before Christmas,
asking for a hint as to what that big present under the tree might be.
:)
Few things are more enjoyable than the week before NAB.
Okay....now you all know my deep dark secret....
I am a complete gear geek.
Jan, I for one welcome the 'teasing'... that is, assuming Panasonic actually delivers on Monday. And, given the info that we've already heard, I don't think many of us will be disappointed.
Of course, there is still the small issue of price (or the big issue, as the case may be).
Either way, I can't wait.

That's a good idea Chris!
Jan, why don't you organize a demo and tour for us in the Garden State. I'm down near Princeton, but I'd sure make the trip and W Graff would probably sneak in and try to pass himself off as a Jerseyan.
does it have a tape drive or not?????
is it a Leica lens?
0 lux capabilities?
anyway I'll be there on monday
