Anyone know what type of microphone comes with the NEX-FS100 lens kit?

Just wondering if I need to get additional mics to supplement this one.

I would not ever rely on just using the stock camera mic, except as a reference mic. If you are doing dialogue, you will need booms and/or lavs.

Beyond that, unless you are really doing run and gun, I wouldn't even use the on-camera sound recording. XLR or no, there's no way it's as good as a half-decent recorder, and the level adjustments look nearly impossible to use during recording.

I've not seen anything about it. Right now I am trying to source a mini microphone to replace it with that is just the size of an XLR connector. All I want is some reference audio for lining up so I don't need a huge mic on the front. If I cannot find it already existing, I plan on making it myself.

I don't a darn thing about the mic packaged with the NEX-FS100, but I do know that my Sennhiser ME66 will have a new home on the FS100! (and by "on" the FS100, I mean connected to the FS100, but boomed near to the subject with a deadcat on it)

Just got a reply from Pro Sony and this mic is a Cardioid mic that will capture a bit more sound from the sides and rears. The Polar pattern he gave me was not typical of a Cardioid as it was somewhere between a Cardioid and Omni-Directional but more towards the Cardioid side.

I know this mic from the Z7 and NX5. As a standard on-camera microphone itīs superb! No need to replace it.
