View Full Version : Is there any official test of the prototype FS100 regarding 10-bit output?

I've only read speculations regarding the 4:2:2 uncompressed output from the FS100 and was wondering if anyone has done some sort of test on the few prototype units floating around?
I don't know what it takes to compare footage and determine whether the uncompressed footage is 8-bit or 10-bit, but I thought that someone would have done that by now... I can't seem to find anything.
I thought after NAB, things would be cleared up, but I've found nothing so far.
any news would be appreciated

The FS100 is 4:2:2 8 bit out of HDMI. The HDMI itself is 10 bit capable but the camera will only do 8.
This is coming from Bill Drummond, Product Manager @ Sony via an HD Warrior exclusive interview.

Yep, a shame that. The F3 is the 10-bit output, large-ish sensor, interchangeable lens winner. Currently.

Well, last more "frequent" infos (Sony's people contradicted themself quite a lot during this NAB) is you can output:

8bit 4.2.2
8bit 4.4.4

Analog 422 rgb 444.
