AVCCAM Viewer software

I have been using the AVCCAM viewer software that came with the camera when uploading MTS2 files to my computer. Is it okay to do this? I heard someone on here saying not to use this software with a MAC. Also, is it possible to converty MTS2 files stored in a folder in your computer, not in an external source like a camera or card read, into AVC files via the AVCCAM viewer software which is loaded on the same computer? Thanks.

I convert the files from a folder on my hard drive all the time- using a mac I just log & transfer by navigating to the "PRIVATE" folder I copied from the card to a folder on my HDD- I usually name the folders by date and what was going on at the shoot. The only caveat I can think of is to make sure and leave your file structure intact inside of the "PRIVATE" folder when you copy~
