Just have installed the game Doom3, and now in Avid the image appear darker when its not playing, if I hit play, the image lights up a little, and when I hit stop, the image gets little darker. How weird is that? Someone know what is going on here? ???

I just upgraded to 4.3.5 and noticed a similar, but opposite phenomena. Still and scrub are (relatively) lighter than play. Michael, any insight?
BTW: No Doom3 here.

This is a graphics card overlay issue. The graphics cards uses two differnt display paths depending on whether video is mobing (uses the overlay) and when it's not. I calibrate my monitors using the Monaco Optix kit. This sets it up for correct values when not playing. The only way to correct the overlay is to go to the display settings for that card and most of them have video overlay color control settings. This has to be done by eye since there is no other way to get control of the overlay parameters. I put up bars in my source/record monitors and then flip back and forth between between play and pause and adjust the overlay accordingly. You will be able to get very very close, but not exact.

This is not an Avid Xpress issue but the third party hardware and how it deals with the overlay. Installing Doom may have chaged parameters on the graphics card to optimise for the game.
