I need to be treated like a four-year old so could someone share a step by step workflow for getting 24p (normal, not advanced) footage into AE 5.5 and out to my Media 100i 7.5? I'm letter boxing some 16x9 footage to 4x3 and I get stuttering images when I render out. This would be much appreciated.

gee, I haven't used AE5.5 in a long time so I don't even remember how well it handled 24p. What I usually do is just treat my 24p footage like it was 30i. Just import your footage then go to file-new comp from selection, do what ever it is that you have to do and export out as a DV Quicktime, or the media 100 codec if it has one. I always remembering it played back smoothly with no flicker nor glitches.

Ashley - you may want to post a quick question in the adobe after effects forum if you haven't yet. Just ask if ver. 5.5 can handle 24p. It may not.

I think you can just hit Ctrl+F (Apple +F on Mac) to interpret your footage. And then under Fields and Pulldown hit Guess 3:2 pulldown. Since you're using 24P normal you should be able to remove the pulldown in AE 5.5, but I haven't used 5.5 in like two years so it might be slightly different.

After that just render it to whatever codec you need. That should do it.

As mentioned if you haven't removed pulldown have AE guess the 3:2 pulldown. Set comp fps to 23.978.
In output settings change it to add 3:2 pulldown so when you render the movie it will be restored to 29.97 for media 100 (unless you want 24 within the media 100)
