Can I suggest that owners of an F3 could start a new thread in which we suggest/distribute our personal Picture Profiles for the F3 in the Cvp format ?
It is a nice piece of software ... and maybe more professional than just posting some text and numbers ... and it is available for Mac and PC ...
If I am not mistaken ... version 4.12 is the latest? Who else in this forum is using it?

Here's a link for anyone having trouble finding it - http://www.bandpro.com/manuals/Sony/CVP%20File%20Editor/ from what I know it seems it was made for creating custom gamma curves on the f900, does the f3 allow such things? Interesting piece of software
edit: yeah, it seems it only supports a couple select cameras, how are you using it with the f3? does the f3 even support import/export of gamma tables? I can't even get the software to run under w7 x64

That's exactly where I downloaded it from ... hope that is allowed ... Mac version opens and saves ... didn't even ask for the key ...

Arent Gamma tables the same as LUTs as in Look up "a gamma" Tables ?

gamma tables in this case is how a sensors output is mapped into a linear recording format. LUTs tell software/hardware how to interpret footage and map it's gamma for display, and can also deal with color values as well.

That makes sense btw I meant to say how sony deals with gammas and Luts. Not gamma's in general.
The software is for winxp/vista 32 bit.
Do you need to purchase the CVP software ?

With a quick scan of the manual, I have a hunch that you would save the file containing the LUT you create and simply load it to wherever Sony saves the LUTs on your SxS cards when you do a backup from the camera. To load into the camera you would simply load them into the camera the way you load picture profiles that are saved onto a SxS card. I repeat this is just a wild guess.

But the LUTs you can load and save on the f3 once the update comes out is for viewing the output of the footage/camera. Gamma tables effect the image coming off the sensor, effecting how it is recorded. Like std1, cine1, etc. This tool allows you to create your own gamma settings, and load them into cameras that support loading of custom gamma tables, such as the sony f900. The f3 does not support custom gamma curves, so this post is just a wee bit confusing.

Yeah, let's not confuse what this software does with LUTs. Same idea, except different in how they're used and where they come from.
And on top of all that, I doubt the F3 allows outside curves. The only thing I've heard that way is that you can paint via RMB 150 or 750 and save that picture profile.

OK apologies and I stand corrected. Like I said a "quick scan of the manual". In any event, we will know soon about what you can do in terms of the abilities of importing and tweaking data once someone gets the firmware installed ostensibly in the next couple of months and maybe sooner than that.

From page 6 of the user manual
Cameras on which gammas created by
CvpFileEditor can be used
• HDC-900 series (AT Ver. 1.3 or later)
• HDC-F950
• HDW-F900 (AT Ver. 2.xx or later)
• HDW-F900R
• F23
• F35
• HDC1000/1500 series
I've used it to produce nice custom gamma curves for Sony F900/3, F900R and F23, F35 cameras. It's not a tool that can translate to the EX Camera Data format.
Current CVP file editor is ver 4.20 Win/Mac. It doesn't support F3 yet. Used on my F900/3 days, 4-5 years back, there are some gamma already buit-in such as, Hypergamma, CineLog 709, S-Log A, etc...
I don't think Sony will include F3, otherwise, they will not sell it together with the firmware upgrade (S-Log, LUT, dual-link).
