Hi everybody again! Hi Micahel P!

Well i have just installed de Avid 4.5.1 just to prove the fluid film in a very critic sequence that is interlace in order to change it could gain som progressive look but i discovered that the fluidfilm pluggin is just availlable in 25i projects!!!!!

I am just now goin to try to star a 25i project use the åluggin ther e export a quicktime referencefile
,
import htat to my 25p project uffffff

and see if it works....i hope

but is there any other way????

The fluid film shoul also be available for 25p projects!!

Michael is there any better method in order to avoid that workaround (which i down´t even know if its going to work)? or am i doing all wrong and the fluidfilm should be also available on the 25p project?

I have just talke with my avid technical support and he thinks that avid should have fluid film also on the 25p project... ia mean ...thats his opinion and mine....but anyway.,....any better choice?

thanks
/Tom

well i tried what i have describe and i down know if ia m going to have serious problem with this later on. I have exported the quicktiem reference file with the 25i porject secquence the clips i have applied the FluidFilm effect .
I have imported the mov file to the 25p project and when i try to load it on a monitor to set an in and out point i recieve a error message:

EXCEPTION: interlaced source clips cannot be used in a progressive project.

Because i am in hurry whith this thing i have tried som other operations and the result until now are:

i can drag the clipp direct from the bin to the timeline. and apply edits or color correction.
I can even render the color correction effect (i use mojo so i actually doenst need to render just to the end )
But i canot for example: copy it or hsall i call : load it into the memory (maybe there is common type of operation whit the action of loading into monitors for seetting in and out points!)

I wonder if there is just limitations on loading it to a monitor or if i am going to have some serious problems by the end of the project when i shall send it to sorenson.

thanks for everthing...

FluidFilm takes 60 field material and creates 24p material with a rendered 2:3 pulldown so that the audio maintains sync. FuidFilm is only available in NTSC interlace projects.

Since film transferred to PAL is aready at 25fps, there is no pulldown to be added to give it an additional film look. In order to create that, you need to creatre a progressive frame from 50 field material. This is available as a preset.

25p projects assume that all material is already progressive so the rendering engines do not support interlace sources. Your workaround is to capture in a 25i project - create progressive renders and export as QT reference and import back into your 24p project.

Thanks for your answer MichaelP

i have done that but as i have written: although i have imported the QT reference into the 25p project and it seems to work partially. As i write i canot load it to make in and out point cuase i get this warning message: "EXCEPTION: interlaced source clips cannot be used in a progressive project."

I just hope that i wouldnt any unsuspectec problem, cause i know the avid syste is quite unstable if one is doing somthing which cuase such a warning message....

for example when i leave without editing a couple of minutes and i come back to work the image on the compose is 2 times as big (i mean in my 25p project with the imported importe QT reference movie).

I just want to prevent any major problem later as it seems that the workaround seems to be a little contrary to the 25p specifications because of the warning message:
"EXCEPTION: interlaced source clips cannot be used in a progressive project"

I have just confirmed that the size change is with every ind of footage...it maybe som kind of videocard setting that i havent fixed and that requieres with the new upgrade. But anyway the wrning signals are still there:

"EXCEPTION: interlaced source clips cannot be used in a progressive project"

when tryying to load on a source popup monitor or trying to copy.

Then try this workaround:

Export processes sequence as sequential TIFF files.
Expirt related audio as WAV

import both into 25p project, autosync picture with sound, edit away.
