Here is a project we just finished. This was shot 90% on the AF100. All the interview cutaways were with a GH1 and one of the main cameras was GH1. Learned a lot about the camera in the process, but I think the final product turned out nicely.

Really nicely done. I watched the whole thing and found the characters to be very compelling. Well done.

Thanks very much! I think the AF100 was the perfect camera for this project, and each time I use it I like it more now that I've found the settings I like.

i like it, if you have the time could you tell us the settings you used for af100 & gh1, Im going to be working on a project soon where it would be nice to inter cut the 2 cameras

This was filmed over a couple months, so I can't remember all of the settings. For the AF100 I can list what I remember. On all interviews I had:

Detail -4
V Detail -4
Coring +2
Chroma +1
Master Ped -2

And most of the interviews I believe were Cine D with Norm 2 or Fluo. Then I switched to HD Norm, Norm 2 for a couple. Now after shooting for a while, I like HD Norm, Norm 2 or B.Press Norm 2 as my preferred setting. For the GH1 I believe it was set on the settings suggested in the first post here: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?204761-Sticky-please-How-to-set-your-GH1-up-for-video

Thanks very much all. As with any camera good light and subject matter matters most. But I know I could not have filmed some of those shots with my old XHA1 or HVX.

Great feature! It seams you've pretty much figured the camera out :)

Best thing about this piece had nothing to do with the camera. Very well done.

Excellent piece.... I do interview-driven projects all the time.... very similar to this. Big question (at least for me) : when shooting interviews, how did you monitor? Even with a Pany LH900 monitor, I'll roll through focus and want the key side to be a hair sharper.... it sometimes never gets there. I don't want to use a harsh words, but I see the same "mushiness" on some of your interviews.
Your thoughts?

Great looking spot, well done, thanks for posting. These types of spots are bread and butter for lots of us, think you really showed what the cam can do in these situations. Handheld looks great. Loved the Park Ave. Exteriors at dusk.

I use the SmallHD DP6 to monitor, which has 1:1 which really helps with focus. On the slightly wider interview shots it is very difficult to nail perfect focus, and with a 50mm lens at even 2.8 there is not much of a margin of error. On my HD monitor straight out of FCP the interviews look pretty darn sharp, but I agree they could be a hair sharper. But I think it has to do more with the lens I was using (which is an old Minolta Rokkor, so not high contrast and not extremely sharp) and Norm 2 matrix which I have seen people posting before that they thought it was not sharp enough. I've shot some interviews with the Lumix 20mm and they were insanely sharp, but sometimes too much so. I like the Rokkor actually for the slightly softer look it gives, it is more flattering for older faces.

And thanks for the compliments, the Park Avenue dusk shots were very fun, I felt like a kid in a candy shop. Got really lucky with the weather as it was raining all day and stopped right at the perfect time.

Thanks for the tip..... I'm actually thinking of getting the smallHD DP6 or the TVLogic small panel. Haven't decided yet. Here's a completely ungraded spot with I shot with the AF100 that, depending on where you are in DC, might see on the air.

Well done- great characters/storytelling, very nicely shot and edited.

All Rokkor 50mm? Is that the 1.7?

Thank you. This was a mix of a Rokkor 1.4, the Lumix 20mm, and even some 14-140.
