How about somebody write up a script and everybody produce X out of the same script as a contest? You can compare creative thought which will show your own individual thoughts or concepts.. It would be a really good way to see where you may be going wrong, even if you only do it for the fun of it comparing against a better short?

Just an idea.

thats an aswome idea, how much detail would the script have? word for word or just a main purpose and basic outline?

i was reading a book the other day that suggested this: write a scipt that could fit as 2 genres (eg horror and romance) and just by chaning muisc see if you can make 1 movie a horror theme and the other exact same version of the movie just with different music a romance theme. that might be fun?

The script would include full dialogue. The location should be similiar.. I guess whatever else you can make your own. Word for word or close enough..

I think Hudson suggested this a few months back, and nobody took to it.

I think it's a great idea.

I agree, it's a cool idea, and I'll see if I can work this into one of the monthly DVXfests. If we can get a minimum of 5 people willing to participate, it's a go. The script should be simple with a max of 2-3 characters. We could shoot for June.

I'd be all over that.

I saw a film like this once at a festival. It was maybe five different scenes, all using the exact same dialogue, but each scene was incredibly different -- one was like a mob hit, one was a gal telling her husband she's pregnant, etc... really intriguing.

I'll participate. I actually have time to produce something now..

This is how they did the Greenlight competition. Hey, Barry_S. Does this mean that *once again* I can't play??

Ok Matt, lay a guilt trip on me.:) Don't worry, I've got a cool new project in the works and everyone will be able to play.

Hey, you know, if your conscience allows you to discriminate against someone just because of the color of their camera, even though they have tried to be an active and helpful participant in the community, writing post upon post over in the audio section trying to help out folks with less experience in that area, that's fine... I guess my being a moderator (XL2 forum) doesn't really mean too much after all... Personally, I couldn't look myself in the mirror if I did that, but that's just me. That's just, you know, my little idiosyncrasy, you shouldn't have to worry about that. I mean, I'm just one guy you know. Oh yeah, there are others aren't there? Well, don't worry about them either, I mean they couldn't possibly be hurt by that right? I mean what's wrong with separate but equal? Granted true equality can't be garnered that way, but hey, that's not your problem right? Nah... You're fine...

Why the hell do we even give Matt the privelege to post outside of the XL2 and Audio sections? He obviously can't handle it.

Did I just hear someone cue the world's tiniest violin? Patience my son, I counsel patience.

Payback. You know, the more I watch this movie, the more impressed I am with it. Just the opening scenes under the credits are an education.

i will enter my amature attempt at it (and when i say amature i mean it)......

if its in june (there is a public holiday in june so i dont have to work/study which is when i could do it)

by then i would have almost finished my tv/video course and would probably have decent skills then i would if i made it right now so im in...

if it hits 4 characters it would get tricky for me, 5 min max would also make it easier, not too much dialogue incase scenery shots are required, simple locations (eg no underwater)

ARE THERE ANY CLEVER WRITERS OUT THERE?!
