Hey i was looking at Avid and saw the Mojo.. Is it worth the money, and does it speed anything up? Also, does it screw with the signal coming from the DVX to remove pulldown?

Mojo does not "screw" with the pulldown flags when capturing ADVANCED pulldown over FireWire. XPress Pro when released will have solid support for the ADVANCED pulldown and will even capture 24fps if the flags have been lost as with a bad dub. SOmne DV decks also strip the flags off, but Xpress will still allow you to capture real time 24p. It will also allow you to shoot 30p and bring it into a 24p project so you can have a 25% slomo in real time. Good for hand helds and other similar type shots. Xpress Pro will also alow you to render or created titles in uncompressed format to retain higher quality images.
Mojo allows the real time efects to remian real time when going back out over FireWire as well as assisting in the 2:3 pulldown insertion for NTSC.

Avid Xpress Pro and Mojo are still in beta. Avid announced several weeks ago the ability to have compenent I/O via a cable attachment to the Mojo.

Yes the upcoming Avid Xpress and Mojo release is going to heat up the NLE choice even more, making it a real hard decision which way to go.

Some more Avid Mojo info from the Videoguy (originally posted on the Avid WWUG 11/15/2003)
Played around alot with Mojo yesterday. Gotta say, this is one amazing product. Here are just a few tidbits I'd like to share
1- With Mojo hooked up to a TV monitor, you can see your effects in real-time while you are tweaking them. This feature is sometimes referred to as WYSIWYG. Being able to see the actual video with all layers on a video monitor while you are actually creating it is really important for color correction, PIP, 3D FX and titling.
2- Played around with draft mode and Mojo. WOW! I was blown away by how nice the video looked on the video monitor. You won't use it for final output, buit it means you could push your computer well beyond it's real-time playback capabilites and still have real-time video previews while you edit.
3- Avid is really hyping mixing DV and uncompressed video in a timeline. Frankly - I thought this was cool, but I didn't really understand how powerful this could be. Until now. Played around with using motion backgrounds and animations in a project. You can really see the difference in quality of the final product when you use uncompressed vs DV video for these.
4- More on uncompressed video. Played around with Squeeze and MPEG2 export. Those of you with DVD authoring and creation experience probably know this already - Fancy transitions and effects don't always look crisp and clean when you encode from DV to MPEG2. Well, I decided to do a test. I set up a few of these transitions to be rendered and saved as uncompressed video. WOW! the MPEG2 encode now looks significantly better. Note: I did not make my entire timeline uncompressed. I just selected those 'difficult' to encode segments.
5- Mojo & hardware needs. Yes, Mojo needs more power then Xpress Pro to run. But we were playing with a Dell laptop running a 1.7 Centrino and a GB of RAM & internal 7200 RPM hard drive. Xpress Pro & Mojo delivered outstanding performance. We were able to put 4 PIPs on a 5th full motion video background.
On our new 3Ghz hyper-threaded workstation it gave even better performance. We were able to load up each PIP with motion, shadows and filters. And the nVideo quadra 750 card gave us great OpenGL 3D real-time effects.

You can absolutely can use the output for final delivery. You can choose between component, s-video, or DV for quality.

Ok, so I finally broke down after all the hoopla and CRASH! >:( this gizmo does not let me hear the audio from my M-audio Omni IO! Why didn't anybody mention that if you got this gizmo you better spend some money on new audio monitoring options. I was quite happy with my setup but now I must reboot my system without the mojo to edit with my avid XP and hear it on my Roland ds50a Speakers. If I want to do color corrections I have to listen through my headset to benefit from WYSIWYG on my monitor. Also, Mojo does not recognize my Panasonic ag-dv1000 vcr. Is my problem unique? I don't hear anyone else complain. Please share your wisdom if possible.
Thanks

Mojo handles all of the audio, so just plug your speakers into Mojo, then you can monitor again in real time. Mojo isn't as robust as most professional and prosumer sound cards, but it does solve the problem.

Luxgap:
The Mojo has been great for me. But yeah, that audio issue caught me off guard too. I thought I was going to have to buy a whole new audio monitor. But no! I figured out a workaround with adapters and splitters - that's the key. So now I have only one audio monitor connected to 3 seperate audio originators - my PC, AmigaONE, and Mojo. All work great!
Peace,

Yeah I'm having problems with Mojo too...
I recorded a clip into Avid. I applied no effects -- nothing. I can view individual frames on a client monitor with no audio -- the audio is plugged into this client monitor. However when I play this footage nothing will happen for about 10 seconds then I'll get a sort of strobing effect on a frame of the footage that starts to separate from each other (it doesn't matter what I have the delay set to -- it still happens after 10 seconds).
If I individually select to preview the audio on the timeline then I'll be able to hear the audio with a blank client monitor screen. If I individually select to preview the video on the time line then I'll get one frame of video every 10 seconds.
Mojo is the only external Firewire device plugged into my Motherboard's onboard firewire port. However, I also have about 3 USB drives plugged into my Motherboard's onboard USB ports. Could sharing Firewire with USB be the problem?
I also Have 1024 mb of ram. Could not having 1500 mb be the problem?
I am also running windows xp home with sp2. Could not having xp professional be the problem?
I aslo have an Ati x800 pro graphics card. Its a high end card -- I dont see how this can be a problem. Although, for some reason, I can only choose software gl.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Avid Xpress Pro is only qualied with XP Pro and only the latest version v.1.6 (now available) is qualified for SP2.

So with the installation of XP Pro everything should be well??? Or has anybody else had this problem and found a fix?
I have some questions for the users of the mojo working with 25P projects:
If I will edit a 16:9 project in Avid, will mojo output a 16:9 picture on a 4:3 client monitor?
And does the video on the computer monitor play in perfect sync with the video on the client monitor? And is there any delay in audio that has to be corrected?
Does it feel like a Avid Media Composer system when scrolling through timeline?
And has mojo a feature that let you see after effects results on client monitor?
I am thinking of buying a mojo, so I can view my video on a client monitor when editing and doing colorcorrection.
