We did little underground fight thingy just awhile ago. Not really a commercial, don't even know how I would categorize it. We learned a lot lighting wise doing this.

All comments as always appreciated.

Excellent !!!

But when we talk about action sequence than a SFX is must what makes it real fight. At the first moment when he hits his first punch to opponent, I have expected some great "Punch Sound Effect", but there was nothing and my thrill was gone. Just one mistake in entire video and the total fun is missing. It looks like a music video rather than a fight sequence. Just put some cool punch sound effect and you will feel the difference.

First of all, that was just awesome. I don't see stuff that looks that good shot on dslrs normally, so be proud about that!

Secondly dvxuser can b a harsh forum, and I for one don't think the sound was bad at all. The thingthat this should win an award for is the editing. Really really good editing!

The fogger is a great touch. The issue I always come across with foggers and hazers is that I need to be careful lighting with strong backlights because it tends to bloom all over the place. If that was what you were going for, then great! But when I don't want that particular effect then I move the light overhead or side facing. A nice globe or chimera hanging overhead with kinos on the left and right of frame perhaps?

Be proud of this...you did a great job. Now, go market it to the video game companies! :)

Its ok but too much light in background,it should be offscreen in shots IMO.
And with my experience with fog it should be always behind characters and not much or not at all in front of them cause picture is muddy/foggy.

No one said it was not good work. Yes, Its an awesome work. I appreciate that kind of work specially fog effect, he has used so brilliantly, though there are some mistakes but its ok.

The main thing is sound effect when you are talking about fight sequence and not a music video. The sound was good but not for a fight sequence. Just let him put the sound effects and see the difference before and after.

Excuse me, I didn't say that someone said it was bad work, so don't put words into my mouth. Also, I respect your opinion about the sound, but I do not agree at all. I believe it would cliche the piece and notch the cheese factor way up. I respect your opinion, but please allow me to have mine. There is no absolute right way, and others are allowed their opinions here.

That was awesome! A couple things seemed a little off, but overall really great!

Thanks for the comments!

The reason I went with more metallic kindoff sounds was because we've always used those exaggerated *punch* sounds before and I really wanted to try something else. We had some problems during mixing as the sound kept getting muddled and when we finally got it some of those metallic clangs were slightly hidden.

The problem with a clear cut punch sound is that I wanted it to sound somewhat more subdued and unrealistic, like it's from a different world. I don't know did I succeed but atleast I tried.

About the lighting. I actually wanted even more backlighting so we wouldn't even see the characters faces but this is what we come up with when we saw the location and actually started lighting. It was a big mess but the smoke covered up our mistakes nicely.

Sorry SIr... If i have hurted you. But i didnt meant that. Just i was against ur sentence: "dvxuser can be a harsh forum".

I also respect ur opinion and it was true too. But the lack of "thudd" sound kills thrill which maarek has created in the opening shot.
