Casting tips?

I'm soon going to be doing castings, and here where I live people are:

A. Desperate to star in a video project.

B. Even if one pays them 5 dollars they will do it. Luckily I'm not going to pay them that little.


Some tips for the castings? I will be having a casting director as well.

Without specifics of the project I can only offer basic advice.

1) Give as much info about each character as possible.
2) Set up times that allow people who work day or night to come in.
3) Be prepared to do call backs on people you like and people you are not sure of.
4) Be willing to deal with agents even if you don't have a huge budget.

If you give more specifics on what type of characters you are seeking or what amount of time you have to do this in....or anything else you feel able to share on the boards and I and others will try to give some more information. Right now I am at a loss on what to tell you because I have so little info to go on.
