In case anyone is interested in the older eos mount Canon 80-200 f/2.8 L "Magic Drainpipe" (all black) lens - these are grabs from our Saturday shoot - doing an office interview style scene. I haven't used this lens too much as it's the most modern lens I own and can be a little too-sharp/contrasty sometimes, but the way we had the light on Saturday it became usable and matched very well with my older Canon FDs and older Zeiss lenses (Rollei mount).

Everything at f/2.8, ISO 100

Wow those look fabulous. So since it was all wide open no need for aperture control? What a good lens, and you can get them relatively cheaply! Will have to recommend to some of my friends shooting Canon.

Thankfully it was a controlled lighting environment so I could just make f/2.8 work! They can indeed be had relatively cheaply - and most agree that this lens is slightly sharper at f/2.8 than the more modern 70-200 f/2.8 due to the design of the rear element on the 80-200 f/2.8 L.

It also pre-dates ultrasonic motors and so the way the focus ring is geared in MF mode is actually very pleasant and accurate to use - much better than trying to manually focus a usm lens - although still not as nice as focusing a true MF lens.
