Does anyone know if Premiere 1.51 will support DVCPROHD?
I doubt it because of the 24P issue...
but if it doesn't, I hope they will come out with a free plug in.
because it seems like it is going to cost a fortune to upgrade to HDX100...
New Premiere would
Support devices like:
JVC JY-HD10- Camcorder
JVC CU-VH1- VTR
Sony JDR-FX1- Camcorder
Sony HDR-Z1- Camcorder
Sony HVR-M10- VTR

Jan commented on it before saying that Apple and Avid support it and that Premiere 1.5.1 supports HDV, not DVCPROHD. So, in it's current form, no.

you should write adobe at their site here http://www.adobe.com/support/feature.html
and request that they support DVCPRO-HD editing including 24p in ppro.
tell them they need to keep up with the other pro apps that have done so (final cut - avid) to keep their customers.

Well, there is always the possibility of Premiere Pro 2.0 coming out at NAB, don't ya think? ^_^
That would be cool but I'd be sort of pissed if they do...

..they like to charge for most updates. but id rather it be sooner than later. i just hope they license cineforms codec for conforming DVCPRO-HD as well because the smaller drive space of the digital intermediate with the cineform wavelet codec is great, and being able to edit HD in realtime on a regular system with a compressed codec that is really visually lossless would be the crown royal of indi filmmaking. keep your same computer with maybe a couple small upgrades if its slower. buy a plugin from cineform.. which has announced that its "prospect HD" will be available for direct sale this month and it appears that you can buy the software alone. so maybe that would be the way to go. previously you could only buy a boxed solution with a BOXX PC that cost apx 21,000.00 but if they sell the software alone for affordable price we would all have access to desktop HD editing from ANY format at ANy framerate with reduced storage space and a visually lossless master in the end.. HDX editing and delivery would not be a worry then.
the question sin my mind now are... how much will it cost? ..and is there a chance that we could buy a version like aspect -HD which only converts all the flavors of HDV for ppro but instead it converts DVCPRO-HD in all its flavors?

iamloser, have you used the Cineform Codec?

I've tried the Cineform AspectHD codec to "lighten" raw frames from a rendered 3D Animation to 720p, and it turned out marvelously.

..only used the trial version with HDV. and read -looked at all reviews- tests and specs i could find . but its really all pretty much the same once its in the intermediate format. you just have a given bit depth image with a given frame size and frame rate. .. it shouldnt matter whether the original scource was HDV or DVCPRO-HD as far as the resulting data rate if all the given factors are the same. it would be more processor intensive with a higher frame rate or larger frame (1080p vs 720p )and 10 bit instead of 8 but for a nice newer computer its not a real issue. espescially given that computers are always faster and faster but HD specs will be what they are for a while to come yet.
you can test it out here:
http://www.cineform.com/products/DownloadAHDTrialStart.htm
i should note that cineform works the closest with PPRO and its software works the best in the PPRO environment.

The one negative with cineform is that it won't install on XP Server.

Chuck S. took away a star because of that joke he didn't think was funny.

..i think the stars come from a member rating system now. you click on that scale under someones info and rate their reputation. id assume that everyone started out with 3 stars when we went to the new board.
.. anything from a gazillion stars to negative gazillion is fine by me. people can take or leave my words as they choose. i have my own path to follow, and others have their own.
i take whatever sound wisdom i can find along the way, judging it against anything i know to be true.
-stands up all patriotic like-
..you can take away my stars.. but you cant take away my destiny.. it is my own to claim if i should only choose to step forward and claim it.
- strings hum quietly in the background... as the firing squad lines up-
..dvx foreeeeveeeeeeeer!
-bang.. bang bang bang.. ba ba bang.! .. the air falls silent as the smoke rises from the barrels. a small group of crows caws loudly as they frantically take flight from a nearby tree. the commander slowly walks up to the body, and rips the stars off the dead mans jacket with a solemn look on his face. camera pulls back through the crowd that only looks on in silince.. then it rises up over the hill, and through the clouds. ... fade to black. roll credits
