1. The price will be under $10,000.
2. It will include DVCPRO25/50/HD.
3. The camera will have a 24P frame mode.
4. There will be no recording on tape anyway, but storage on a flash media, maybe P2.

no tape at all ? - where di'u get that ?
my guess it DVCPRO25/50 might record to tapes..and for DVCPRO-HD.. P2 cards (or maybe a new format tape)
Jan said no tape.
The P2HD will not have tape. But the DVX200 will have real 16:9 and it will be lead free!

Whaaaaaaat? he says in a high pitched naisily voice. Can you point us to that information Zim? I never heard Jan say there would be no tape, nor have I heard that the new DVX would have real 16:9, just that it would be lead free. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind having true 16:9, but I havn't read where it said that.

On the DV Info Net Jan wrote: "[...] But DVCPROHD is not a new tape format, but this little camera will not record to tape, rather to memory, P2 cards. No moving parts except those in the lens. I wonder if any of you can appreciate what it feels like to have yourself quoted, and have things out of context. The part about the DVCPROHD to Mini DV tape is/was a separate conversation from the other part. I find it very weird.
So not only is there a tensile strength issue with the tape but how could we, allow a SMPTE format based on Metal Particle Tape be recorded on a ME tape? Isn't that a new format?
Here is a pop quiz for you guys, how many recording heads does it take to record DVCPROHD?
Best,
Jan
None on the new camera, it will be P2 ;D

Wait a minute. Now there's two cameras? The DVX200 with real 16:9 and the new HDX100 with P2 tapes and no tape? ???
Help me out here.

Zim is probably talking about the DVX100B, which Jan said will be lead-free. As far as I know, though, no other feature has been announced for it. Jan said that she's trying to get some extra features in, but she doesn't know if she'll be able to.

Hi Robert, what you may not realize is that is not the original place that those two answers were given. Nothing negative to you, but it just feels weird.
Best regards,
Jan
my guess:
25 to miniDV tape
50 to P2
i just can't believe that panasonic will release an affordable prosumer camera that is locked to use P2 only
i'm excited

I doubt this camera will be classified as Prosumer. If it only records to P2 then that definitely puts it out of the consumer range.
As long as the price of P2 doesn't break the bank I'd be pretty happy not using tape anymore.

Depends on the bank, I guess, but my little piggy bank is feeling a might scared.
1/3", non-changeable lens *is* prosumer, which is great, we love prosumer.
HDX100 is being made for us, indie filmmakers. it's the good Panasonic way to answer sony's HDV.

True. For some reason my brain missed the word prosumer, I thought it read consumer.
