With great pleasure I'm pleased to announce that the 1st Toronto DVX User Group meeting was a success. We had 30 people attend the meeting on a warm January night. We had Kevin McCay, National Account Manager, Broadcast and Security Systems from Panasonic Canada attend the meeting. He said Panasonic will be pleased to sponsor future meetings.

It was a great reward for me to have so many people out having a good time. Doug McCauly and Colin from Kingsway came out and gave us a great demo on the P&S 35mm adapter, as well as giving us a great demo on the Steady Cam unit (can't remember which model) for the DVX (and other Mini DV) camera. Members were given the opportunity to try out the Steady Cam themselves. Gloria from Creative Post/Tapeworks offered great discounts on Panasonic Mini DV tapes, if you need a great price contact her at 416-979-7678.
The Cinetactics Matteblox caught the interest of many attendees.

Thanks to all who came out. Thanks to those who helped. I'm working on our next meeting already.

Don't be shy, let me know what you think!

Sincerely

It was definitely a success!

It was nice to get to finally meet all the people we converse with on a regular basis. The demonstrations were informative and overall it was fun!

And VERY good sandwiches...

Yes it was nice to put faces to the names. BTW, it was the Flyer model from Steadicam that was demoed. Wicked product.

Thanks Stan for suggesting the idea of a DVX Users' group in Toronto.
Thanks Peter for all the work in pulling it together. If you bought the sandwiches well all owe you.
Thanks also to Creative Post for the providing the venue.
You could hear the creative sparks crackle as Doug and Colin made their magic for the assembled slack-jawed, saucer-eyed squeeze of cinematic talent.
Encountered snow on the journey back to Waterloo. Slippery driving.
But managed to skid my Honda to a halt just before falling from the end of the earth,---a short walk from my front door.
That is the area beyond line-of-sight from the top of the CN tower.
People not from Toronto will understand. Others will puzzle with furrowed brow and wonder;...what can he mean? ??? ;)

I have a question? Will there ever be a national DVX user meeting? Or will this be too much of a hassle to operate? I don't live in Canada and I would to meet other DVX users. Thanks people.

Amahp.
National meeting? As in Canada or the United States?
Which nation did you have in mind?

Great Meeting & Great Sandwiches, Thanks Peter for the super effort you put forward to make the meeting a success. Thanks to Gloria for the MQ Tape pricing ($7.20 per) what a deal. Maybe we can start a list of subjects of interest and see if we can get these to materialize at future meetings. Hi again to everyone I did get a chance to speak with and am looking forward to more meets! Stan the musicman
