Hello moe / _Snoddy,
Mighty glad to see a post from someone "closer to home"
thanks to "cut and paste"
(which I have done for my "head tracking" - "the Bane")
I'm in Albuquerque, NM. Would like to imbibe or otherwise conspire with other DVXers In NM. BRM, you are an activist, no?
I like imbibe, and conspire...perhaps we will do both.
Activist??? - although I am not sure of your inquiry,
perhaps more at another time.
What has just become apparent to me, with reapect to
the other postings in this thread,
re: geographical proximity to our locations
(no offense Kai and bilgami - I have VERY fond memories
of San Antonio - hope to hell I can visit there again)
Tulsa and Denton are not what I regard as the SouthWest.
Perhaps, if we begin a new region - "4 Corners" or...
-Snoody, we may draw other lurkers...
(I have no doubts that there are folks in NM, UT,
and sure as hell, Durango - Telluride...
holy smokes, where the hell are the Phoenix guys???)
I had almost given up on this thread,
and am GREATLY appreciative of your "showing up" here!
With that said, I will dimiss myself, now.
Best regards,

"I like imbibe, and conspire...perhaps we will do both.

It's just that so many famous Southwestern activists seem to live in Tucson, Ed Abbey being the most famous, rest his soul. I'm always tempted to move to Tucson but have yet to even visit. I like AZ and especially the Four Corners. Almost moved from Salt Lake to Flagstaff (instead of Albuquerque) cause Flag is almost smack-dab-right in the middle of the "corners."
"Perhaps, if we begin a new region - "4 Corners" or...
*-Snoody, we may draw other lurkers..."
I know of a few lurkers but more will be arriving shortly. We can all meet at the famous plaque marker at the very intersection of the four corners and film each other in our respective states [of inebriation].
I will be filming in N. AZ (among other places) this coming summer. Maybe we can hook up.

Actually, the more I think of it, this is a pretty good idea. Maybe needs a back story, though.

So what would you consider it? Middle of the US... Centerville... Mid South West Eastern Land... ?

Hot Damn - there's action in the Southwest
"So what would you consider it? Middle of the US... Centerville... Mid South West Eastern Land... ?"
Thanks Kai :D LOL - let's see, "MSWEL" has possibilities...
Seems I have become a desert dwelling West Coaster.
For thirty plus years, my annual journey takes me to
Quadra Island B.C.
and my head glitches when I start thinking of any
location more than 3 miles East of where I sit,
"seems" sooooo far away....
Mr. Moe,
I am ROTFLMAO - perhaps I will be coming from the
inebriated state of confusion.
Yep, I think we got it - FOUR CORNERS -
back story?
Hell's fire, I got no doubt a journalist or...
will show up to make us HEADLINE material...
so what if it is the Grants Pass weekly
We gonna have a Party!!!
With the Spirit of ED Abbey in our midst,
I would not be surprised if Michael Stewart
(Flight Hawk - Sante Fe) would show up,
and a baloonist from ABQ
"I will be filming in N. AZ..." Count me IN
Looking forward to a reprieve from the hellatious heat.
Aha, do you know of the "Sky Island Alliance"?
AZ - Sonoran region
and ??? Heisley(sp?) - aerial stills - book in print -
beautiful stuff.
Imaging the view from Mt. Taylor...
Navajo Land....
Shiprock...in my 35mm stills archieves, I have an aerial
jhahwyhwet
damn keyboad went haywire trying to describe the snow on
the leeward side...when we returning from Colorado
me piloting my Cessna Turbo 206...
and Canyon de Chelly....
Durango - Telluride...snow...flowing water...
the Canyonlands....
Cuttttt......
"Better a cruel truth than a comfortable delusion"
And THAT'S the TRUTH!!!
Thanks "Snoddy",
Best regards,

BRM:
Googled "Michael Stewart Flight Hawk *Sante Fe" but didn't learn much. Seems "Flight Hawk" was a model of Studebacker but I know that's not it.
"Aha, do you know of the "Sky Island Alliance"?
* AZ - Sonoran region"
The islands reach into NM. Haven't visited but in time. I'm still in treatment in an attempt to try to deal with my unreasonable fantacism with the Colorado Plateau.
"and *Heisley(sp?) - aerial stills - book in print - *
* * beautiful stuff. "
Haven't seen it. Please provide a title and correct spelling so I can look into it.
"me piloting my Cessna Turbo 206... "
Lapsed sailplane pilot here but I'm thinking of building one of these "airchairs:"
http://home.att.net/~m--sandlin/bug.htm
Make sure to click to the "update page" to check out this year's model, Goat2.
Bolts together with common tools, full control surfaces, no FAA, cartop transport and rolling launches. $3,000 in materials. I LOVE IT! I wanna be the first to soar the entire Colorado Plateau (talk about thermals) and document it with the DVX. (BRM don't even think of trying to beat me to it.)
Best,
Moe

Yeah Moe,
I was planning to NOT login tonight - look at my time stamp
and please bear with me my late night sloppiness...
Could not resist responding...
Re: "Michael Stewart Flight Hawk Sante Fe"
sorry - that was twenty ? years ago...
hellava good dude - fill ya in later...
Re: fantacism - I am a fanatic - seems we are relating...
Re: and Heisley(sp?) - aerial stills - book in print -

Haven't seen it. Please provide a title and correct spelling so I
can look into it.
Sorry Moe, that book was not on site - no "L" in Heisey or Hiesy
my spellings leave much to be desired...
I do KNOW that he has contributed to National Geographic,
amongst others
I will follow up with more precise info.
Yo Moe, clicked on the link (thanks)
Holy smokes... - .... me thinks you have punched
all ten of my buttons !!!
I did not pay attention to the "hardware"
nor follow any links nor update
because, IMHO, Moe is a man who loves being airborne...
Re: I LOVE IT! I wanna be the first to soar the entire Colorado Plateau (talk about thermals) and document it with the DVX. (BRM don't even think of trying to beat me to it.)
Looking at your all caps,
MMMEEE TTTOOO!!!!!!!!!
I am damn near a butt head, with thermals (rely on power)...
...quite some distance from the Plateau...
DVX...that's why we are all here...
"beat you to it" -
Hell's fire, man, you upped this message, where all could read...
I am of the spirit of helping each other
and, I very well appreciate your reservations of mentioning
you're intentions...
I encourage you, ... I am envious, ... how may I assist...
...after having just "scrolled up",....
me thinks, I had better wrap this msg
"I be looking for you"

"Under the Sun" - "A Sonoran Desert Odyssey"

FWIW, Inside back flap of cover has three quotes,
which include, William Garnett and Sam Abell,
photog for Nat'l Geo.

And I wanna be the first in line to "document" "your documenting
process....where do I sign up? :D
Spent a few minutes looking at Sandlin's pages -
detailed drawings for an impressive looking:
simple; clean; sturdy; double surfaced wing; 3 axis...
Moe, no wonder to me of your excitement!
How far into the construction are you?
Do you have pics of the process?
Best regards,

Hello Kai,
Re:
"Tulsa for me, "
"anything & everything. You mean subject matter or scenery?"
"So what would you consider it? Middle of the US...
Centerville... Mid South West Eastern Land... ?"
my brief reply,
and what I have of seen of your
contirbitutions in After Effects....
Neither Tulsa nor Denton seem so far away.
Although, I plan to travel to Paris Texas, summer of 2006,
and do not forsee sooner travels to "Centerville"...
Perhaps in the ensuing months...
With an endeavor to keep life in this thread,
and to express appreciation of your contributions..
