O.K guys, here is where we are at.

I met with Kevin from Panasonic this morning. *The meeting went very well, Panasonic is supporting this group 100%!!
They have offered us food for both carnivores and vegetarians. * They have offered us space, chairs, presentation equipment and even a small amount of advertising in the GTA! *All for the low, low price of FREE!!!!!!

Panasonic loves the idea of a DVX festival at their facility. *Originally I wanted the festival to happen early March. *However, the theatre in which we will have our viewings is currently being renovated, so I'm pushing the meeting one month to early April. *This will give everyone more time to put their 3 minute pieces together. *For more info on the rules please view the last Toronto Thread.

Panasonic will be offering prizes at this event. *Our co-sponsor Creative Post/Tapeworks are also donating a prize pack which will include Tape Stock!!!

More information about this event will be posted on Monday.

Future meetings will include guest speakers and a NAB info session in Mid May/June

Thanks
Peter

Thanks..!!

Do you own a DVX Camera?
Have you shot it at 24p?
Are you proud of it?

Then show it off!

Panasonic is pleased to announce the 1st annual Toronto DVX User Group Festival. *Submit your 3 minute production (it doesn’t matter what it is as long as its not porn!) and have a chance to win one of three prize packs!

How much does it cost to enter? *Nothing!

Where is it? *Panasonic Canada located near 401 and Dixie.

When? April 7th, 2005 starting at 6:30 pm. *Show begins at 7:00 pm.

Complimentary food and drink will be served at this event.

Anyone can enter, submissions should be mailed to or dropped of to Peter Hordylan at Creative Post, 510c Front St. West M5V 1B8.

Good Luck to everyone!

Rules are as follows:

1) You have 3:00 min of screen time (the only exception is a music video, which can not be longer than 4:00 minutes)

2) This festival is for anything that was shot on our camera!!! Anything you submit can be current or past work you are proud of. It can be from a short film, music video, documentary, tv show, corporate video, wedding, it doesn't matter as long as it was shot with a DVX.

3) Try and submit a piece that was shot at 24p

4) No pornography allowed! Everything else is free game.

5) A judging panel will be selected by me.

6) All submissions should be on Panasonic Mini DV.

7) All submissions should be recieved no later than April 5th, 2005, we can't guarantee submissions received on the date of the event will be screened.

Any questions? please post....

Great news and wonderful accomplishment.
Quick question.

If I screen my film at this meeting, will I be able to submit it at other festivals? I am not fimiliar with film festival screeings and policies. But I hear that the larger film festivals need films not previously screened anywhere. If somebody could throw some "natural" light on this issue :D.

Thank you in advance and good luck with the organisation. Look forward to meet the gang!

Yes!! Don't worry, you can submit your film to any festival around the world before or after our event.

Old work, new work, it doesn't matter as long as you shot it on a DVX series camera.
