If so, respond. If there's enough people interested, let's plan an occasional get together to talk about DVX tips & tricks, show films, etc...

Ok, we should set something up!
How about it, Mike? Should we start in Sherwood since you've made the offer- get together for a coke?

Or anyone ever replies to this.....
I do not have a DVX (currently a TVR900). I am ready to purchase a Sanken CS-1 and will do so in April. I went to DV Expo and had a chance to look at the Cannon XL2- for me the DVX would still be the best fit. Having said that, my point is that I would hope our common interests in film, combined with our varying experience in production, writing, directing, etc., would give us a diverse group. I am interested in meeting others interested in filmaking.
Recently I spoke to a film maker who is losing his outlet- there's a local watering hole ("Nocturnal" in SE Portland) that picks a monthly theme and invites filmakers to produce a short and air it. They meet on a Tuesday night and show their stuff. This coming Tuesday, March 29th, is the final night. During that conversation we moved from disappointment in Nocturnal's closing to the idea of doing an Indy Call for locals who are interested in filmaking. Our thought is that based on the level of interest generated, we might be able to start a group. The mission would be to support each other through networking skills, talent, experience, etc. We could tie it over to those above the line as well and develop a cross directory for Indy development.
It's Spring Break week- a lot of folks are out of town. Next week I'll post a suggestion as to a day and time to meet. We don't have to have an agenda- just an opportunity to network and talk about projects, ideas, etc.
I would prefer to meet late afternoon on a weekday- if that can work for others. We could meet someplace where we can get a large table, like Red Robin, Cuchina's, etc. If there are more than 6-8 of us that want to meet- we can move it to a conference room which I can arrange.

That sounds good. With advanced notice late afternoon would work well for me.

Late afternoon's on monday's, and friday's are usually open for me. Unless your talking about 5pm and later, then I'm usually available m-f.
I'm out of town but I've sent an email to my office to remind me to get a date out the first of next week so we can get together. At that point I'll figure out how we're going to RSVP so we can get an accurate head count.
We have a lot of talent in Portland/vicinity; it will be fun to get together.

I'll be waiting for a date. After 5pm would probably be best, since I have a series of interviews to shoot all week.

Sounds good to me. It looks like my thursday is booked solid, but other then that I'm available.
Okay, let's go with this Wednesday, April 13th. 5:00 PM @ Cuchina Cuchina's across from Washington Square Mall off I-5 South, Hwy 217 exit, then the Greenburg Road exit. That's a well known area and seating should not be a problem.
Let me know if you will attend.

Is 6 pm OK? I'll be done at 5pm, but I'm in Gresham, so i would not be able to make it across the river until 6pm. Assuming that's ok, I'll be there.
Makes sense; let's say 6:00 PM. See you there, Ryan.
Okay, that's two and counting.

Ok, I think I can do it, count me in tentatively. How will I know who is who?
Just ask for "the film makers or DVX Group" or "Larry's Table" and you'll find us, Erik. I will leave word with the hostess.
If there is enough interest and we can agree on a date- next time we'll convene in a conference room so those who want to can show a short, or two; that will be up to the group.
I also believe another local, comedy film-maker, Nick Wells, will join us. Nick just picked up his DVX100A on Saturday from Pro Video & Tape in Beaverton. Nick is also an instructor; he teaches Premiere Classes at PCC. He said today that he plans on joining us.
Okay, that's four and counting...
