Everything works perfectly except I can't record footage to the harddisk using DVR. It will record the pre-roll amount (0-5 seconds) but that's it! I've tried using the camera's record button (with tape) and I've tried using the DV Rack's record button (not slaved). Any suggestions? Their online support doesn't cover this problem.

P.K.,
From the info you provide, this does not quite sound like a perfect match, but it's at least a starting point. Copied and pasted from our DV Rack Technical FAQ page:

DV Rack was working fine on my laptop system, but now it has a problem. Video shows up in the monitor and scopes for less than 10 seconds, and then freezes up.
There a memory setting within Windows that needs to be adjusted. Some low-power configurations on laptops can change this setting automatically, and then they don’t change it back later. To make this change: Right-click on My Computer and go to properties. Chose the Advanced tab, and click the button to go to Performance settings. In the Performance Options panel, click the Advanced tab. Under Memory usage, make sure it’s set to adjust for best performance of Programs. Click the Apply button, and then click OK for each panel."

Let me know if this solves it,

Thanks Mark. My settings were already set to Best Performance for Programs. Hmmmmm I will try a few more things. I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong on my end.

The next thing to check is how current the video driver is. DV Rack depends on relatively recent advances in video card technology, so it will not work well or at all with older drivers. [I'm always a little reluctant to point to video cards and drivers as the possible culprit because it might seem that I'm passing the buck, but they're so often at the root of a problem that they're the next logical choice. Please report back whether a) there's a newer driver available and b) if there is, if it got DV Rack working for you. We at Serious Magic are seriously intent on helping our customers resolve all issues they encounter with our products.]
