Titles in photoshop

I am trying to make a title that will go over video. I am making the titles in photoshop 7 and putting them on the video in xpress pro 4.5. When I make the title i just put it on a transparent layer so that hopefully the video will show through the rest. But when I bring the psd file into avid and put in on top of the video, it fills the area that should be transparent in with white. CAn anyone help me with that?? I used to do the same thing in premiere pro and it worked great, what is premiere doing that avid isnt??

First of all Premiere and Photoshop are both made by Adobe so the two applications works flawlessly together. Avid is made by aliens so it doesn't work exactally right. I haven't used avid inwhile but you have to find the alpha channels key filter and apply it to the PSD file. I have no idea where its located. You might want to post this in the avid section.
