Magic Bullet and softness

It seems that everytime I render something in MB (Standard version through AE) it renders my footage much softer - annoyingly so. Even just using the look suite presets like Sharp and Punchy and then outputing using the NTSC compressor my footage is always rendered soft even when setting all the output elements to full/highest quality. Anyone have any answers?

A big component of most of the MB presets are diffusion effects that soften the source material. If you like the color effect, but don't want the diffusion, you can zero out those parameters manually.
