I'm confused (doesn't take much). In the index there are examples of 60i, 30p and 24p, I thought the FX1 only 1080i (60i)?
The footage looks good although there's quite a bit of noise in the trees.

I'm assuming those were shot in Cineframe 24 and Cineframe 30, Sony's fake progressive.

damn,
Seems like my computer(P4 2.28, 1G RAM) has hard time playing the footages.
The footages are all very choppy.
I read somewhere that P4 3.0 is required for editing HDV.

it's an mpeg2 transport stream

Yes, it's an MPEG-2 transport stream. You can drag and drop the files on the Vegas timeline and it'll play 'em. If your program refuses to acknowledge them, you might try renaming them to .mpg, that should work.

amazingly sharp and clean images,
but I still see some artifacts.
But is it just me or
the hue is really muted.
why did they bother putting these fake 24 and 30fps movements? they could've used that money to put XLR inputs or something.

I am impressed ! ;D ;D
I did a test on one of the interlaced clip , not the fake 24p ones.
I did a 2:3 pullup from HDV res 60i to DV res 24p and a normal interlaced scale from HDV res 60i to DV res 60i. I transfered both results to DVD mpeg and I was amazed of the results on my projector. Both looked THE SAME quality sharpwise, STUNNING ! This was wonderfull to see since if you do a 2:3 pullup from DV res 60i to DV res 24p, you loose a lot of the sharpness because of the field blending.
I'm very happy with this test and I wish I could post the DVD mpegs to show it, but I have no web space.
It surtainly looks very interesting to me now to shoot HDV 60i with the FX1 and transfer it to DV 24p for stunning reults !
Of course ... HDV 60i to HDV 24p will most likely loose sharpness because of blending fields. Nag nag nag ...
Also. Using the XL2 will give stunning results also in native DV 24p and I will not have to do all these tricks to get it there. But the price tag is like between $3700 and $5000.
We'll see .

For those that can't get the m2t files to run, the VLC media player works well. You can find copies for various operating systems here:

You can change the extension to .mpg and they will play fine in Windows Media Player or quicktime.
