I am interesting in purchasing the HDR-FX1 when it comes out this month. I went to the local camera store the other day and he tried to sell me the DVX100a when I told him I was looking for a camera that I could shot movie, corparate, and movies with. He said since only about 10% of the people in the US. have HD I would be limiting my market. Doesn't The FX1 also do DV, or am I mistaken? Is is limited DV?

Would the FX1 be a camera to shot movies on? with some tweeking could you get the "film Look"? I continue to here speculation of the pro-version having 24p. Is there any truth to that? If it is not than I don't need all the other bells and whistles that come with the pro-version. I am looking for the best image for the price. I can get audio back to the old skool with exteral sources.

The FX1 can record HDV and downconvert it in the camera to DV. So , you can record all your videos in HDV and edit it in DV. If the HD-TV is a common everywhere than you can reedit your footage in HDV.

Deside what you want. Video/tv or video/film.

I am mostly inerested in making films for DVD and Television at this time. I also continue here about Film transfer, but with Digital projects gaining support, that will not really be an issue right?

I don't know. You can find a few filmlike videos here. I don't now how they are on film after transfer. I've seen only Sony DSR570 and Lucas films on film.

For TV it is FX1 to me. They gonna love your product. ( of course there is many other productions made by a DVX or others) But I mean TV has to be clean, sharp picture. Next year or the year after we all have a HD-TV at home than we want HDV for our videos.

For DVD with the tv-standard we have you can use DVX or FX1, up to you what you like.

Sorry,

Ask www.filmlook.com what they can do for you. You gonna realise that it is only a question of money to get a filmlook.

For your stated purposes, the DVX is probably the better camera.

Yes the FX1 also does DV. It is a dual-format camera, and can shoot DV SP, DV LP, and HDV.

Would the FX1 be a camera to shot movies on?
Not really. It's high-resolution, yes, but its footage looks like "video", whereas the DVX looks much more like film. The DVX has infinitely more control and options, but it's standard-def instead of high-def.

You could use Magic Bullet to get more filmish footage out of it, certainly.

None whatsoever.
